Perhaps I should show you the bill for my stateroom at FULL PRICE. That should make DH much, much happier!

You can always try and upgrade at the port. They will usually let you pay a small pittance to upgrade to available rooms although I'm not sure if this is true for interline rates.

Have you tried complaining to DCL yet? See if you can't get a supervisor and explain that you were going to book the repo but with the horrible location, you just can't. See what they say! The worst they can say is you're stuck where you are.

Good luck!

Sue

You know Sue, that's a great idea !! I'm going to show him the real price and he will certainly get waaay more happy. I was just telling Lori that we might cancel our hotel for the 25th and just camp out at the pier to see,if, we are able to score a paid upgrade. Of course, when I say we will camp out, I mean he will camp out and I will be there in spirit, because, I will really be in my comfortable bed back at the hotel. ;)

I haven't posted in a few days and have lots of catching up to do.....

Ditto about the ginger as a remedy for sea sickness. I am the world's worst sailor and get sick on any type of seacraft. Two weeks before sailing I start taking ginger tablets once or twice a day. (Twice is better, but i usually forget!) You can get them at any health food store. I like them because there are no side effects like drowziness or dry mouth. If I still feel a little queasy on the first day, I may take a meclazine or two. I also avoid alcohol on the first day if I'm not feeling like my legs have kicked in. After that I'm usually fine. The first time I sailed, I didn't take ginger beforehand and I was queasy a good portion of the time.

Celeste: what flight was cancelled? We're also flying for Madrid to Barcelona on Iberia, but I thought our flight was just a few hours later/earlier. Why is it that you will delayed 8 hours now?

Tracy: congrats on your room assignment......you are not too far from us!

Aren't you on Deck 7? I'm on Deck 2, but straight down from you.

Does the ginger make you smell like when you take garlic?

I am getting into Madrid around 10am and be to Barcelona around 2pm. I am now getting into Madrid at 10 am and LEAVING for Barcelona around 6PM. I got a killer price on my flights- so they cancelled a portion of my flight probably because DCL or other people were willing to pay more than I was...

Originally, I checked my flight in Expedia and they had NO connecting flight for me and I was just going to be stuck in Madrid. :headache: I will probably try to get on an earlier flight once I get into Madrid....or I will run around for a while or find a hotel to sleep in. We'll see.

The train is only 3 - 4 hours. Not sure what schedule they run on, but it might be faster to take the train and dump the rest of your airline flight. You already have to go through customs in Madrid (the Barcelona flight would be domestic), so it wouldn't be too much of a big deal. The rates seemed to be reasonable when I was looking to go to Paris from Barcelona.

The only problem I've heard with that is if you miss a connecting leg they will cancel the return flight. I'm sure you wouldn't want that fight at a ticket counter in a foreign country.

With that much time in Madrid could you book a city tour while you wait. More fun than a hotel room or airport - ok, I know, it depends on who you are with - lol.

Great catch. I really meant for Celeste to cancel that portion of her ticket, not just miss it.

Nope, there is no bad smell when you take ginger......at least no one's ever mentioned it to me!

Celeste: that is such a bummer about your flight. Right now I am totally peeved with the entire airline industry in general. First I was flying on Delta....great price, only 2 legs from Raleigh to Barcelona.....they changed my return noon flight to 10 am and I just felt it was too tight for comfort. So I switched to AA which uses Iberia for the international flight. It cost me about $200 more and we have an extra leg each trip. The times were not as good either. Well, AA calls a few days ago to tell me that my 1pm return trip has been changed to 6:45am and I'm thinking this is friggin' deja vu. When i try to tell them that I am on a cruise ship and can't make a 6:45 flight, they suggest I stay another day at my expense, which is not an option because my husband has to be back that Thursday. It turns out our flight out of Barcelona is basically OK, but we will get to JFK too late to get a flight to Raleigh. Now we have to spend the night at JFK and get the earliest flight out on Thursday. To top it off, my kids were there when the airlines called and they started saying "maybe you're getting a message that you shouldn't go at all" which really makes me feel great now. I'm starting to hate dealing with airlines!

Between you and Celeste I don't know what's going on! :wizard: Pixie dust that both of you get your air figured out.

FAQs are updated. No, I don't have the dining rotation posted. But most of the unanswered questions are now answered. We're still waiting back for a final on the food question (what can be taken from the ship into port). I'll update when we get the answer.

If there is anything else anyone wants to know, just ask away!
