We got awesome 25 yo balsamic vinegar from Florence. Also the best cheese's. They will wrap them for you so that you can get them home. They will also ship. There is a market in Florence right near the end of the tourist "open air mall" in the streets.

Now I need to find someone going to Florence who will do some shopping for me :guilty: Anyone want to trade some 25 yo balsamic vinegar (and maybe cheese) for some wine from Sarzana??

Camille, jump right into the other thread, its a great group of folks.

Sue, You OK after yesterday?

Kelly

Thankfully yes! I was afraid something more was going to happen but I successfully survived the day.

Today has been much better!

Sue

Yep, it sure is! The treats are covered, the grass is covered, the roads are still really slushy. We're supposed to get up to 7 inches (most will melt right away though, thank goodness!!).

I'll add you and Jennie (though she was already on there with a ?? ;) )

Snow? What is snow? :confused3 I woke up this morning to 70 degrees and my nice little outdoor thermometer is now reading 95. And it's in the SHADE!

Hot, humid, I swear it's already August.

Sue

Hey Everyone,
I have been looking over my excursion list and have been looking to trim off some of my high priced excursions. I have been to Pompeii before- so I am looking to do something different.

Over the weekend, I have done quite a bit of research on the Naples Bay area. I have found that there are some wonderful walks on the Amalfi coast or the Island of Capri and I am looking for someone to go walking with. As I am travelling without my spouse, my husband does not want me doing these walks alone- even though the region is relatively safe. The terminal to the hydrofoil is about 15 minutes away from where the ship comes in and it is very easy to catch a ride to either Capri, Ischea, Sorrento, or Positano. There is even a walk known as, “The walk of the Gods.” This walk takes you around the region- including the Emerald Ghrotto.

I am looking for someone or a few people who might want to join me? I have found a guide that will do tours of the region- and he even knows where the wild orchids grow in the area. Or we can do it without the guide- as the trail is well marked. Most of the trials are fairly flat and some have a few stairs. If the weather was bad- I thought about going to Sorrento and doing some window shopping or going to Ischea- and maybe getting a massage at one of the spas.

Any takers???

Just reposting...

I saw the Rick Steve's special on PBS last month and he did these trails. They look awesome. I am doing DCL's Pompeii & Sorrento otherwise you could have twisted my arm.

I'll add it to the FAQs. I promise I will really call this week!!!! Today it was on the agenda but it was the day from h*ll. Between locking myself out of the house, setting off all the alarms in the mall, breaking a couple ramekins and seeing my 6 yo suffer a meltdown so huge it required a 2-hour nap to recover, I've been a bit busy today.

Sue

Thanks for asking about this! No rush needed. The month of March for me is like you describe above. Hoping April is better.

Sending warm wishes your way for a better day today. :wizard:

RENEGADE7: Johanna - the like the travel bag one...the non-back pack one.

Thanks for the feedback! I am worried about a backpack since they seem to discourage them by saying "For security reasons, larger backpacks are discouraged. Guests may be required to check large bags, backpacks, video cameras and water bottles at security checkpoints"

Celeste- We love to walk and would join you except we need to go to Sorrento. I had brought a music jewlery box back from Sorrento when I was there during my Navy time. While we were on the 11 day Wonder Cruise, it was stolen when our house was broken into, so I want to replace the jewlery box while in Sorrento. Hope you get some takers. Capri and the Amalfi coast is beautiful. Alex

Alex, first of all, sorry to hear your house was broken into while enjoying a Disney Cruise :sad2:

Second, which Sorrento tour are you doing? We are doing Leisurely Sorrento in the morning.

C are you working today? I need to talk to you!!!

Tracy

Tracy,

I don't want wine, but you could give me your CC # and I'll be happy to shop for you...:thumbsup2

This one store is very good to work with and when we were there last, they actually have Rick Steve's tour groups come through there and giving a cooking demo and wine/cheese/meat tasting tour in their shop.:woohoo:

After 2 1/2 yrs, I still have fresh parmesan that I soak in my balsamic vinegar....Oooooooohhhh, I can't tell you how good it is! I plan to ship home this time instead of carrying it. I figure I'll have too much from all the cities to follow to drag home.

Also, an FYI for everyone. The lady told us that it was okay to take both meat and cheese home as long as they were both sealed. This is not true. Unless the meat is canned, the customs officials will take it. Even salami (which we had) that is cured. All due to Mad Cow disease. We lost about 10+ pounds of salami we were going to give as gifts.

Yep, Tracy- I am at work. You can email me- my email goes to my cell phone, which is on my hip. I will get back to you right away- unless my patient comes out of surgery, then it will be an hour or so. I never know they are coming until about 10 minutes prior.....

OR

I can call you around 8pm tonight on my way home.....

OR

You can email and I can still call.

I am MAD:mad:   Iberia cancelled my flight from Madrid to Barcelona and NOW I am going to be stuck in Madrid for 8 hours.....:headache:
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Okay, sorry for the massive posts- but one of my patients was a stool suppository and I'm trying to look busy- so I can put off giving it. :surfweb: Man, I know this lady is REALLY constipated:eek: and I'm going to have to dig it out:scared1: :scared1:

I know this is too much information- but if I have to suffer, so do you all.:rotfl:

Um Apryl- this is in response to your PM....

::cop: (think village people) :laughing:
