May 24, 2014 Alaskan 9 night Wonder

Karen Mills is setting up a private chocolate tasting. If you are a part of the FB group sign up there. If you aren't and would like to join the tasting, find someone who is on Facebook and have them message me with the names of participants, and room numbers. This is for those over 21. The cost is $30 per participant and it will be billed to your stateroom. We are setting this up last minute so contact us by 4PM Eastern by tomorrow (Wednesday May 14). The event will be either May 25 or 26 at either 2PM or 4PM. Vote on the FB page if you have a preference. You can also email me. karen_e_mills at hotmail . com
Bummed that I'm just now hearing about this. It would have been an awesome opportunity! That's what I get for not reading the boards everyday...

Can't wait to cruise on Monday for those of you joining us on the West Coast Cruise!

As I have always cruised out of an American port for Disney, and Disney allows alcohol to be brought on board, I have never had an issue bringing a bottle with me on board.

As this is leaving from a non US port, is that same rule in place? Does anyone that has cruised Alaska before know?

Appreciate the information and help.

I am going with we can still bring on alcohol.

But take that with a grain of sand because I have not been on the Alaska cruise before;)

I have signed up everyone in our party (4 of us) as a surprise and don't plan to tell them. If any of them say they are not interested, I will let you know at dinner the first night. I signed us up for the 25th at 2:00.

My SIL and I fly out on Saturday, how about you guys--you have probably told me--but I have so much stuff swimming around in my head, I am having trouble keeping up with just myself.

I would think that it is the cruise lines policy that dictates yes or no, just like in the USA, the port wouldn't really care. And I wouldn't think that CL would change their policy for Vancouver. :confused3

Hi!

I am missing 4 staterooms

1)Ray(?) of Redondo

2)Wrabitdad

3)Eyedisneycruise

4) Jacksons Grammie~ I know you posted but would you mind pm-ing me with it? Thank you!

Thanks!

With the alcohol, i think it depends where it is bought. If you buy in US and carry into Canada then you have a limit Q. How much liquor can I bring into Canada? A. You are allowed to bring in 24-12 oz. cans or bottles of beer or 40 oz liquor or 1.5 litres of wine free of duties and taxes. You must be 19 years of age to import alcohol into Ontario. Any amount in excess of 45 liters will not be allowed entry. If you buy in Canada, then it doesn't matter what you carry on ship. Or you could buy your customs limit and bump it up with Canadian stuff. That's my guess

Thank you so much! Just keep me posted.

No worries-I have lots of stuff swimming around as well! We fly down on Sunday. We get into San Diego around 3:15 and we're staying with my SiL and nephew for the night.

We fly out crack of dawn Saturday morning - not sure what we are going to do in San Diego - just might sleep until Monday morning :rotfl2:

Yes good point about importing the alcohol. Thank you for posting this, because I did not want to find this again. I had seen this before and forgot the exact limits.

My plan is to bring the little single shots in plastic bottles. But only enough for 1 each night. That will be way under the import limitations.

Hi All,

We're in cabin #5128.

Thanks, Bob & Dale (wrabitdad)

I've read these boards for years, but I guess I never created an account.
My wife and I are getting excited for this trip, I've almost read the entire thread. This will be our 3rd DCL trip in the last 13 months, but first time to ALASKA

I tried to PM to get in the FB Group, I guess I have to post more.
If anyone wants to invite me, my email is (my username here) at hotmail.com

We are in an ocean view room on deck 2, our first DCL sailing without a veranda. I'm okay with that, I figure we wont be in the room much anyway.

Looks like we found the FE a little to late, theres always next time.

Did anyone find confirmation that there will be "free" provided transportation from Canada Place to Ballantyne?

Since no one responded, I'm bumping my first post.. and also building my post count :)

Hi yes I completely missed this post. I will try to get you I on FB page when I get home. I'm at laser tag for the next couple of hours with my kids. I have no idea about the answer to the question because it doesn't apply to me. I've hired a car to drive me from the hotel to the port.

I think there is still conflicting information. If you park at Canada Place, DCL says that they will provide a shuttle service to Ballantyne. Otherwise, it is not confirmed that those staying at Pan Pacific will be able to use the shuttle. The Pacific Fairmont is the DCL hotel and if you purchase DCL transportation it will be provided from there. We have already arranged for private transfers.

We're going to just cab it to the airport after the cruise. If anyone with late dinning wants to share the cab just let us know (it's just the two of us).
