May 24, 2014 Alaskan 9 night Wonder

You're not alone. Love the movies also, but can't really see getting in to it like pirate night. The kids are insisting on bringing their costumes anyway. :lmao: We could always pick a day for those of us that still want to "Rrrrrr" get our pirate on! pirate:

I totally get them wanting to bring their costumes anyway. I am seriously wanting to do it too. I'm with it if anyone wants to do our own private "Hi'Jack'ed" Pirate Party one evening. I have no idea where or when, but I'm just sayin'...

For those that have sailed to Alaska with DCL before, I have read some trip reports where folks missed the characters in their "Alaska costumes", that evidently they aren't in those costumes as often as you might think. I am wondering if the Navigators tell you when to see Deadliest Catch Mickey, etc.?

I'm sure you could find some Navigators posted from previous cruises to see. I just clicked on Staterooms (red banner at top of page) and selected Navigators and looked at a few, but I couldn't see how to tell how the characters were dressed.

Sharing again, learned how to do the letters with a picture in them today.

I tried that myself today and did not have any luck at all. I have had Photoshop Elements for sometime and I play with it and make a couple of things and then don't use it for months and then have to relearn everything.

Did you find a tutorial somewhere that helped you or did you just figure it out? I found a couple of tutorials but they were all for older versions of Elements and there were some differences in the software that I couldn't figure out.

I did make the second image in my signature today. It was all trial and error and I don't know that I could do it again, and it took me forever--I mean hours. :headache:

Following MouseauMob's advice, I looked on the Navigators(cause I want the "Alaska costume) under the Character Line there is the advice for "more Character information call...... or watch......" that might have the current info about what Character with costume :confused3

I will be walking with my camera at all times :rolleyes1

I will have my camera with me at all times as well on this sailing, but I want to make sure that me and my camera are at the right place at the right time. :thumbsup2

I did pretty good last cruise carrying the camera with me everywhere. I typically have a BAD habit of leaving it in the stateroom. :sad2:

Nice job on the signature image! I have Photoshop CS6 - but I believe it is essentially the same, although menu items may not be in the exact same place. The key is using the clipping mask. This is the site I looked at. This gives a couple of steps not necessary, but it works well and makes it easy to understand. http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photoshop-text/text-effects/image-in-text/ I hope this works for you.

Thanks, that is a good tutorial. I had found another one that finally got me thru it, and I managed to get one to work. I think I have the steps down now and the next step will be finding suitable backgrounds. Wish I had figured this out yesterday so I would have another day to play instead of having to go to work tomorrow. My eyes are tired now.

Totally agree, I forsee lots of walking to get my pics :) That just means I would work off all the food :rolleyes1

On a sadder note; I'm just in shock and heart broken over the mess in Boston:(

We are putting down our deposit today for this sailing. We are moving down to the 5th floor aft section this time in order to get a 5c verandah and interior room directly across from each other. It will be my wife, myself, my 4 yr old daughter, and my MIL sailing. We did the Magic out of Galveston last Dec and enjoyed it. Amazed to see how active this board is already.....very impressive! Looking forward to planning this 9 nighter with each of you. Chris, Anna, Abby, and Glenda

Hello everyone I'm a long time reader and a 1st time user. I'm getting married in November of this year and I really want this trip to be our honeymoon. My fiance said lets just do a bahamas or carribean cruisethere cheaper(we live in orlando). But I have a motto and it's " GO BIG OR GO HOME!!!! Alaska is Big and 9 nights is better then 7. So hopefully we will be able to join all of you on this awesome cruising experience. Hopefully after i'm done paying for the wedding I can put a deposit down for the cruise. SEE YA REAL SOON!!!!!!!!!:)

Welcome. You will not regret this cruise!:hourglass

First off let me say I'm so jealous of everyone thats already booked this cruise. I hopefully come feburary can say the exact same thing and be able to celebrate with everyone. I saw that the FE deadline was feburary 22nd. I'm new to this whole FE thing but I wonder if it was like unheard of to sign up and then wind up not doing it. It sounds like a lot of fun but just in case we don't get on this cruise I don't want to throw everything off with room counts and whatnot

Hey Everybody!

I'm checking back in after a couple of weeks. Been having a "when it rains, it pours" time in my life. I'm praying it all works out before my June Med cruise.

I carry my camera at all times, but have a BAD habit of leaving it my purse instead of having it on my wrist. I miss a lot of good candid photo ops that way. :sad2:

:wave2: Hi and Welcome! We're on Deck 5 as well, but in the Forward section.

:wave2: Hi and Welcome to you as well! Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Hopefully you get to sail with us.

I say go ahead and sign up anyway. Just leave me a note when you fill out the form so I remember. You'll see the box at the end. If it starts looking like you won't be able to participate just send me a PM or email. I made the deadline February 22nd to give me a full week to finish the final list. I don't plan to put the final list out until March 1st, 2014. But we all know stuff happens and plans change. As long as I know as soon as possible so your group can be notified, it shouldn't throw anything off. (Unless someone in your group spent hours embroidering your name on your gift by hand). :lmao: :duck:

Not much time left between now and your June cruise, so I hope your situation is resolved soon. Hang in there :thumbsup2

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to make a quick introduction before I go back and read the first 27 pages of this thread... We booked this cruise the minute it was released, had no idea there was a cruise meet until last week. (Duh... Of course there was!!) In my defense we have a trip to Aulani in two weeks and a WDW/Fantasy Eastern Caribbean Cruise in six months that have been at the front of my mind. LOL

We are Lesa, Greg, Macy (12 at cruise time) and Morgan (20 months at cruise time) both kiddos are girls. We have already signed up for the FE group. This is our second time doing Alaska with Disney, we did the repositioning cruise Seattle - Vancouver in September 2012. We loved Alaska so much we had to go back and 9 nights was just icing on the cake! Our favorite port adventure last time was hiking with the black bears, amazing. This trip I plan more relaxed port wandering with my camera and maybe more ship time.

I love that this group is so active so early! I suspect it is going to get HUGE!

If anyone has Tweens that want to connect with other Tweens, drop me a line and we can hook our kids up. (Same goes for you parents of babies/toddlers, we gotta stick together)

Looking forward to getting to know everyone :surfweb:
