And DS...I asked him this am if he even remembers seeing snow..he just looked at me and then said..Oh, yeah....

It came and went so fast I began second guessing myself...did I really see snow??? LOL Now all I need is for it to snow a few hours and stay on the ground!! (it is snowing a bit further noth of us..but we don't expect to get anymore)

Awwww, look how happy you all look -- oops! Look how happy "2" of you look!! (I'm guessing the DS wasn't fully awake yet?!!)

Glad you FINALLY got to see some snow - even if just for a few minutes!

Thanks! Yeah, DS was half asleep. It is SOOO hard to wake him up in the night (like for storm warnings and stuff)...it took us about 5 minutes to get him up...and he was still wondering around in a daze. (I wonder if he actually sleep walks at times)

Yay, Heather! Congrats! (I'm betting there are alot of people up north this year that would be very happy to send you some of theirs.)

Heather, glad to see that you finally got to play in the snow! Looks like y'all had fun.

I've been sick all week with the flu and I had the flu shot! I should have gone to the dr. on Mon. but couldn't get myself out of bed. I finally went yesterday when I felt like I was getting a sinus infection on top of having the flu! Today I'm feeling better.

Sorry to hear that, Angie. Was the doctor able to give you the flu remedy that helps to minimize symptoms? (I think that has to be within 48 hours of the onset.)

The whole time I was in Michigan, the news was full of talk about how the flu was running rampant in Michigan, and how this year's strains were not the ones the experts had predicted; therefore, the shot we all got wasn't the usual 90% effective, only 40%. I sat in meeting rooms for 6 days with people in various stages of illness. Thank goodness I managed to come home healthy!

Well, they did say that IF you had gotten the flu shot and then you GOT the flu, it wasn't supposed to be as bad as if you hadn't had a shot. (I'm gonna guess you'd dispute that, wouldn't you Angie?) :confused3 Hope you're all better real soon!

I wasn't able to get the Tamiflu - too late for me. The doctor said that you have to start it within the first 48 hours. I was past that point. My suggestion is that if you do get the flu, go to the doctor right away! I do kind of think that my case of the flu wasn't as bad as it could have been - 3 days for me versus 5-7 days for people that didn't have the shot. I never had a high fever. Other people that I know said that the high fever lasted for 5 days.

Glad you're doing better. From what I heard, even as they were saying "oops, sorry wrong formula....." they did say that if a person who had gotten a flu shot DID get the flu, the duration and severity "should" be less. So maybe it did help, but it stinks that you got sick, period!

Moving us off of page 3!!

Sorry to hear you had the Flu Angie! Hope you are feeling better now.

I've been sick all week. (even when I was playing in the snow). I've been without my blood pressure meds for over a week (no ins, no dr in AL, dr in FL didn't want to refil my prescription, no extra money...plus you know how it is...take care of the kids first..right??)

Finally I got ahold of my dr,and she said she'd refil it one more time (still waiting) but the pharmacy "scolded" me for going without those meds and said to come in and get a few to hold me over. THANK GOODNESS...I thought my head was going to explode from the pain!!

On top of that I had sinus stuff and a cold too. I'm slowly getting over it!! Just really tired and sleeping alot.

I just missed the DCL special on the travel channel tonight! I caught the last 5 minutes of it. I hope it comes on again. I haven't seen it in years!!!

Anyways..TGIF!!! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

Heather, I'm glad you were able to get some BP meds. Now I'm going to be the "voice of reason" for a moment here and chide you. Yes, take care of the kids.......BUT if mama doesn't take care of herself, mama won't be able to take care of the kids at all. Make yourself and your health YOUR priority! (chide is over! sorry!) Are there no resources in your area for those who are in-between jobs or insurers? Any State programs that might be able to assist?

LOL Laura I do know better!! I just let it slide. I think we are in a weird situation about the aid...but we may have to look into it. (we live in parents house..even though we are here to take care of them...it is their house and dad made pretty good money..not sure if that will hurt us or not). Keeping fingers crossed...Dh had a couple job interviews. We just keep saying we'll wait a bit longer to see how his job search goes. I have seen something else on TV that we may have to do...pay for ins for us without going through a job.

The good news is I amost feel "human" again! LOL I even did dishes and cleaned up the kitchen and made breakfast this am!! :rotfl:

I'm glad you're feeling better Heather -- and I DO know that you "know better"!! :thumbsup2

I can't say for sure, but I don't think your Dad's finances or the fact that your family is living in Dad's house would count for OR against you. (does that make sense?) Since you, your DH and your son constitute a "family", it's that current "family" income that should be taken into consideration. And, of course, every state is different so YMMV - but I hope you will look into any resources that may be available to assist your family for the short time you'll need it. Here's a little pixie dust pixiedust: that your dh lands one of those jobs and these lean days will soon be a distant memory. :goodvibes

Thanks for the info and Pixie Dust!!! (if we don't hear back jobs this week we'll go ahead and check other things out!!)

Is anyone else having awesome weather??? I spent an hour outside yesterday just enjoying the SUNSHINE!!! It was 68 degrees here and had a nice lovely breeze!! I'm ready for summer!!! (or spring..lol) Of course we look to have bad weather into Monday/Tuesday..but at least we have had a few good days!

I was listening to my "cruise mix" and Jimmy Buffet music yesterday and it got me thinking about the cruise!!!

Heather, Laura had lots of good advice. Please do take care of yourself!!! Here's some extra pixie dust for something to come through for your DH soon! pixiedust:

Heather, I do hope, it all works out!

From another man, Waiting for a job to come along!
It can be hard!

Have a super day...:goodvibes

Thanks for the well wishes and pixie dust!!!

My fl DR never called in my script...so I finally went in to the walk in clinic to get "established" there today. The dr understood about me not having insurance and will hold off on labs & stuff for a bit. He wrote out scripts for ALL my meds!!! :thumbsup2 It sure was a very quick visit for $100.00. But like DH says...it was well worth the money to have the meds!! Also the meds will ALL be alot cheaper at the family discount pharmacy that's just down the way from us!!! :cool1:

Also applied today for assistance for Insurance. It looks like DS and I qualify, but DH (who is ds step father) won't. We'll see once they process the paperwork though.

So, it's been a busy day here!!

DH is putting in a few more job applications this week too. So we'll just keep thinking happy thoughts until he gets a call back!!:goodvibes

Hello all! Have not been on here in awhile but wanted to tell you we won't be on the 23May cruise!:sad2: Found out that they moved my nephew's graduation to May 24th instead of May 17th!
Sooooooo we had to move to June 20th, which was the next Tortola sailing!
Just glad we are still going!:cool1:

Save some food and sun for us!:yay:
