Our TA is trying to make reservations for a one night stay at Hard Rock mid-May 2020 with 1-day park hopper (don't know what Universal calls these) for us. Universal will let her only make reservations currently for a one night stay with 2-day park purchase so we are waiting until we can purchase 1-day park tickets. Has anyone else experienced this? We need a deluxe standard room for the one night (5 adults one room) and I'm anxious that there might not be a lot of these types of rooms and they'll be gone by the time we can book.

Some of us call the tickets P2P
Park to park

Could be a set up the special rate includes a two day ticket?

You can have 5 in the room but there is an additional $35 charge for all adults (18+) if there are more than 2 adults in the room.

Go to the booking site and check what the cost is for a one night stay
Not many discounts for a solo night room but AAA might be allowed

Unless you cannot use a reseller, like Undercovertourist, or even just on Universal's web site, buy the ticket you want, and just book the room. separately. Any package of tickets and room, has a change free, and cancellation fee that has a longer than 5 day before arriving day, get your money back. A room only, loose the night's deposit, if not cancelled before 5 days of arrival day.

Is there a discount, like Mac says, for booking the package of tickets and room? I'd price buying them separately, to compare.

Your room key is your express pass, and the hotel does not care, nor does Universal, where you buy your park tickets for.

And, if you want to visit both Islands and the Studios on the same day, you need a park to park ticket. A 2 day park ticket would most likely be one park a day, and no hopping or riding on the Potter train.

If you are hitting the parks for only one day, I'd make sure it's a one day, park to park ticket. And make sure you can use it that time of year, as now Universal dos change ticket prices depending on when you are using them.

Enjoy the HR, it is nice hotel, and a short walk or boat ride to the parks, walking path is nearest the Studios.

All of the two queen rooms at all of the hotels will fit 5 adults using a cot. Honestly, the cots are more comfortable than the pullout couches in the deluxe rooms at the Hard Rock. They are nasty!!!!

No reason you can't just book your room now and then buy your tickets when they come available or like someone else said, buy them through Undercover Tourist or some place like that. No need to use a travel agent for something like this. Your agent should have tried just purchasing the room separately.

You can do it yourself, here (just adjust the date) https://res.windsurfercrs.com/ibe/index.aspx?hgID=641&adults=2&rooms=1&checkin=05/19/2020&checkout=05/20/2020&promo=FLO&gsDepartureDefaultDate=06/28/2019&pCode=UEHRH&_ga=2.42775525.1730733979.1561636331-414314656.1558185631&_gac=1.254084412.1561636331.EAIaIQobChMI3cig0cyJ4wIVBffjBx2U9QVmEAAYAiAAEgJEXPD_BwE

Thank you! This was very helpful information. So to clarify I need to order a park to park ticket for 1 day and make sure the ticket is a ANYTIME ticket.

Probably your best to buy the Anytime, as if for some reason, you don't go, you can use them for another time. They should have a clear when they are good until date on them. While Universal does not show pricing for May of next year, it looks like from May of this year, you'd be okay using Value, if only a week day, or Regular, if doing a week-end day. If you are going over the Memorial Week-end (that Friday through Monday,) then only an Anytime would work Know Universal is always happy to have you upgrade your ticket if you selected the lower priced one, and then needed a higher priced one.

And yeah, it does not matter much, where you buy a one day ticket, as with any park, tends to be the least discounted. Know that Undercovertourist sells tickets with tax included. Universal website will show you the total, with the tax added, when you check out, as it's listed prices do not include the tax. So where ever you decide to buy the tickets, make sure you know the total price, including tax. Also, buy buying ahead, you have your ticket in hand, so one less line to stand in. If you buy an eticket, the print out is fine to bring to the gate. If you want a credit card size, just go to Guest Services with your printed out page, and they can transfer that to a credit card sized one. If you get actual tickets, they are credit card size and no need to activate them. Oh, I don't remember how Undercovertourist lists the ticket, but on the Universal website it is called a 2 park one day ticket, with the notion at the top of it, it's a park to park.

Sounds like a fun day. And with the hotel's express pass, a much easier way to see the parks. And yes, I would certainly buy a park to park, as hopping between the parks does not take that long to walk, or you can ride the train. The only ride you can't use express on is the new Potter one. Also can't use it on the Flyers either, but that ride is restricted to younger kids, as no single adult and no two adults can ride. And of course, the wand shop does not have an express line.
