We have a large family trip planned for May 2020 before Memorial Day weekend. I’m looking for best guesses for crowds during that time of year. We usually go in June so hoping for lighter crowds!

Expect super heavy crowds as the week progresses. Schools in GA and surrounding areas dismiss May 22, some even earlier.
You might catch a break early in the week, and as the poster above stated...it might be kinda nice! Some families will head down Wednesday, because they are done with school.... ahem... yeah, we are that type of family lol.

Enjoy, you can have fun either way. ;-)

I can't speak for your exact time frame but we were there in May of this year, the week of May 12 and we were VERY pleasantly surprised at the crowd levels. We typically travel in late January and early September for lower crowds and this year I found that week in May to be better!

We will be there from 5/16-5/23/2020.

Everything I am reading is basically saying that the beginning of that week is a "moderate" level of crowds - which in Disney speak, apparently means quite crowded, but not enough to make you crazy. The levels pick up around Thursday, wit the weekend ramping up even further, but still not as busy as Easter, Thanksgiving, or Christmas.

We went may 8-15 this year and it was much more crowded than when we go in September. If you usually go in June, I would think it would be on par or a little less crowded.

Outside of the heat early May is a wonderful time to go. End of May get nuts with Memorial day and some schools begin closing the last week of May.

We went that week this year, and the crowds were fine. But the heat... It was hotter than satans B**ls.

Yup I grew up 90 minutes north of Orlando so I'm used to the Florida heat and humidity. But I even got light headed in May at AK and had to sit down and cool off, and I'm fairly fit. Its just SOOOO hot with the crowds, concrete and lack of shade in most places. My wife, who is NOT from Florida, said never again. But I would do it again. Just early mornings at the Parks and afternoons at the Pool.

We are from missouri. Its pretty humid here, and by May, usually have days in the upper 80's, some years even 100 before memorial day. So I figured we would be ok, and somewhat used to the heat by the time we went. Nope. It was still upper 60's lower 70's here the week before we went. We about died. lol For comparison, today the humidity here is 79%, and my weather app shows 81% in Orlando. Even the CMs were talking about how hot it was for May that week. We are going to try January and maybe we will all enjoy it more lol

These posts show how subjective this “crowded” really is. These posters were there at about the same time. One found the crowds better than September, one found them much worse. Expect crowds, that is just the reality of WDW now. Make a plan & have realistic expectations. I think your expectations play a part in how much you end up enjoying your vacation. If you go in thinking you’ll have low crowds & it ends up crazy crowded, you will be frustrated & disappointed. If you go in expecting it to be crowded but you get things you planned done, you will be much happier in the end.

This is so true. The old "slow times" just don't exist anymore. I think if you go in with a good attitude, a decent touring plan and use that refresh technique on getting additional fastpasses day of you will be surprised at how much you can get accomplished with not a whole lot of waiting.

Thanks for all the info, we will be there May 14th thru May 21st. I have been to WDW several times and know it will be crowded, it’s just how crowded. I don’t want to be there for the Memorial Day crowd so I’m hoping by leaving the 21st we will be missing the most crowded times. As for heat and humidity, were from south Texas so it’s pretty much just like home!

We were there May 15-22 this year and the crowds were very manageable. Missed spring break and before the summer crowds got there. But it was hot.

We have gone in May the past few years. It is very manageable early to mid May. The only day that we found very busy is Mother's Day and that is mainly in Magic Kingdom. We are going again in 2020 and hope it will be the same. It is a bit hot and can be rainy.
