May 2017 hours?

Hi everyone! We are planning our next trip to DL mid May 2017. Possible the week of the 15th. A couple years ago we went in May and there was a day or 2 that they closed at 8:00pm and we were SO annoyed! We didn't think to check the hours beforehand. Last year we were fine. This time I'm trying to start my planning early but I hate to book a hotel and find out they have early closing hours one of our days again.

Anyway, does anyoyne have access to a calendar for May 2017 yet? Or do I really have to wait til 6 weeks before our trip?

It comes out about 6 weeks ahead of time. You probably were there on a grad night. DL closes early for those and they are common in May and June.

DLR doesn't publicly post hours more than 6-weeks/45-days in advance (in most cases). If you went in 2015, they did close early on some nights in preparation for the 60th anniversary celebration. Last year (2016), DL was open until at least 10:00 pm in May (weekends were open until 11 or midnight).

Grad Nites are held in DCA now (since 2013), so DL's schedule is no longer impacted by Grad Nites. Luckily, Grad Nites are an after hours party in DCA, so their operating schedule isn't affected either.

With May 15th being a full 2 weeks before Memorial Day, I'd expect park hous to be something like DCA 10-8 and DL 9-9, at least Monday and Tuesday, probably Wednesday too.

Hmm. Do you think they'd stay open a little later the week prior? Not that it's horrible to leave at 9 but it's nice to have the option of staying til 10. But when they closed at 8...that was way too early for us!

If they close at 9 you can always get in line for a ride like Space Mountain or RSR right before closing. That lets you stay in the park a while after closing.

We had the same thing happen in May two years ago - they were closing early to practice parades and fireworks for the 60th Anniversary which started the following week.
