May 2011 with the in-laws

I think from here we headed over toward Pirates.

We hadn’t ridden it since our first trip back in 2004 but I warned Joan that I thought there was a drop involved. She decided to stay off and shop instead. The rest of us went on the ride and had a great time.

(I love how ravished her hair is here – must have been one heck of a day)

The new animatronics are really life-like

We had to wait while they bought down Carla’s wheel chair – Tiny Girl was feeling the effects of no nap today

We met back up with Joan and then headed over to the Haunted Mansion – the kids loved the new queue line here as well

We were walking back towards the castle and I think it was decided to ride Peter Pan.

When we got to the line, Tyra needed a potty break so again I took her. I guess I was a little ahead of myself at the last potty break b/c here are the photos from buying her a hat.

We all met back up and went on It’s a Small World

When we passed these gals Devin says “Ahhhhhhh-llloooooo-haaaaaa”

By now it was around 7 pm. And we were hungry – what better dinner in Disney than funnel cakes

can’t beat the view we had

I thought this would make a great back drop for a photo for my new frame

Everyone was already staking out seats for the parade and fireworks. We had no interest in seeing the parade so we made out way through the hub and back over to Tomorrowland. One final spin on Buzz

We remembered we had our Space fastpasses from earlier in the day so Chris, Derrick and the 3 older kids went on again – Devin didn’t want to go so Carla and I sat off as well. Joan bought the kids those light up bubble guns – they lasted about 5 minutes but they had a ton of fun

When the others arrived we made our way towards the center of the park. We ended up being stopped on the bridge between the hub and tomorrowland. Not a bad place at all to be stuck for the fireworks

Exiting the MK after the fireworks is totally craziness so we made a plan to just meet at the Emporium. Everyone made it there and we shopped around a little while letting the crowd leave Tyler and Devin both picked out new hats

Farewell from Mickey at the TTC

By the time we made it back to the timeshare they were done. Too bad we had to wake them so we could make the bed

ooppsss, forgot that on our way over to Buzz we stopped for a photopass photographer. Just to double my chances of getting a good photo for my new frame

A family shot in front of the castle – well from the side of the castle

Carla’s family

And a big ol’group shot

Departure day – how on earth did this day creep up soo quickly??? What happened to our week long vacation?????? Chris and I finished packing up all our stuff and had the bags ready to go. Carla and Derrick weren’t sure if they were going to stay an extra night or leave today too so they packed up just in case. We had a 10:45 reservation at Chef Mickey’s. We arrived right on time and were directed to the photo area. We were seated right after our photos were taken. They gave us 3 tables which was wonderful b/c we had a ton of space. My family took a table with 3 chairs and a bench – Chris and I put the kids in the chairs so they’d be closer to the characters. Carla’s family took the 2 tables beside us that had 2 chairs each and the same bench. Our waitress took our drink orders and told us it would be a few minutes before the characters made their way around to us. We all loved the buffet here – Joan and Carla both decided that they like the buffet style better than the family platter that we had earlier in the week, I don’t think I have a preference.

Before long the characters started making their way around. First up was Donald

he didn’t stay long and next was Pluto who played around with the kids a lot

Minnie came to our section and it was time for the napkin twirling

Tyler bought back a surprise from the buffet for Chris and I for our anniversary

Tyra enjoying our surprise – lol

Minnie came around for a visit

Goofy was next

And finally the big cheese him self

Joan settled the bill against our wishes and we went to browse the shop outside the restaurant.

I guess we were taking too long for Chris and Tyra in the shop

Final purchases made we headed back to the timeshare to load up all our bags

not sure what they were doing but they were staying out of the way so it was ok - lol

We got everything loaded up and cleaned up what needed to be (trash, stripping the beds, counting the towels) and then checked out. We were on the road by 1:30 which was perfect time for the kids to nap. We had a real uneventful ride home. We stopped for dinner around 5 somewhere in northern Georgia. Chris didn’t want to stop for the night so he drove straight through – we made it home around 3 so I’m not sure how fast he was going but when I was awake we never had any traffic.

And with that our Disney trip was done:sad:
