May 2011: The Year of Surprises! [TR]

Yikes! I can't even imagine having a bug attack your eye! :scared1:

Sorry that you didn't get a different experience on Star Tours. I know that the sequences are chosen at random by the ride vehicle, rotten luck.

Glad that you liked Fantasmic, it is one of my favourite things at WDW. The key to getting out of there ahead of the crush is to leave once the boat comes out at the end. Everybody else is still watching as you are booking it up the stadium stairs. :thumbsup2

It was painful. And there is further discussion on this bug later in the week. :sad2:

It's okay, we still loved it, even if we went to Hoth both times, on identical rides (minus one random element). If there truly was something different about the experiences, it was so minor that no one in our group could pick it out. Maybe it had something to do with the Bay we were loaded in - as both times, it was the same bay. :confused3

Thanks for the tip on F! I'll totally use it next time! We didn't know how it ended, so I was thankful to see the full ending, but will ease DH's pain and use your tip in the future! Not that I like being shoved and pushed and struggling to keep up with both kids, but I don't mind the crowds as much as DH does. He whined the entire time it took to get out of the mess. He even whined more while in line for the bus. :lmao:

Ummm, so I read all about the rest of your DHS day and all I can remember is:

Disney2011pictures063.jpg

I want that sundae!

Ok, seriously... it sounds like you had a good day. Glad you enjoyed L!M!A!, ST, RnR and F! but that's a bummer about your experience at 50sPTC.

enjoying your tr so far, so sorry about that bug thing that sounds awful.
The food at 50'sptc looks delecious, i might have to make a stop there soon. YUMM!!

I am finally here. But at least I had a good excuse.:lmao::lmao:
Disney2011pictures036.jpg

We got that cupcake to. Liam split it with me and loved it. Especially since the darth vader was edible.YUM!!!!

Yes, lots of compliments on FB about his new ears!

Can't wait to see Mark in them! That's awesome he tries on hats at every park!! Looking forward to hearing about his hat adventures this year!

It was yummy! I didn't know it was Chocolate PB when I ordered it though, so when I dived it, I got a surprise. It was a nice one though! DH made fun of me for not reading the sign. (I couldn't figure out what was wrong with the chocolate. :rotfl2:) I was kind of shocked that it was available as a dessert option, I had already ordered, but the CM changed my order for me so I could get one as well. :cloud9:

I remembered seeing the sign that it had peanut butter but was also suprised when I tasted it. Blame it on short term memory:lmao:. I asked if it counted for the dessert expecting them to say no, how suprised was I when I found out that it was. :woohoo:

I am glad that you guys got to do F! We loved watching it. We had some issues leaving as well but you will find out more about that when I start my TR.

How odd that you went to ST 2 times and saw the same exact ride. We went on it 7 times (Liam loved it) and never got the same combination. We saw several scenes a couple of times but never the same combination.

Enjoying reading your TR, can't wait to read more.

WOW! You guys got a ton of stuff done at the studios. You guys were there all day long! I wish I could convince my lot to go that long in the park. Can I come be a part of your family??

Ok totally feeling you on the blisters, I have 7 babies right now and a swollen foot I've been trying to keep propped up today.

Sorry you got a bum server at 50's, we had one on our last visit too but thankfully lucked out this year. I agree with the no milkshakes with dinner, I didn't even touch my brownie sundae this year and felt bad because I couldn't even convince anyone else at the table to eat it because we were all so stuffed. But those shakes are oh so good :)

Loving the report, can't wait for more!

WOW!!! You better go out and play the lottery!! What are the odds of getting the same sequence twice in a row?!

DH got the Darth Vader cupcake yesterday, he really enjoyed it!

Bummer about the server at 50's prime time, but how nice that another server picked up the fun for you!! We ate there for lunch today for the first time in probably a decade! As I was reading your TR I called ds over to check out the pictures and he was so excited you ate there too!

I am amazed that the kermit ears stayed on your head!! I pop out of my seat on that attraction, no matter how I hold on! But I love that ride!! Rock n Roller is one I can pass on. It's not the hills or the loops that get me, but that claustrophic wait at the end to pull into the station. Now that gets my heart pumping!! Too funny about you and dh filling in all available space!

Ummm, so I read all about the rest of your DHS day and all I can remember is:

I want that sundae!

If all you're going to do is stare at my desserts, I'm going to stop posting food pics! :lmao::rotfl2:

(I totally kid - I love the food pics too much to not share them! And that sundae was soooo yummy! I just hated I was full.)

Ok, seriously... it sounds like you had a good day. Glad you enjoyed L!M!A!, ST, RnR and F! but that's a bummer about your experience at 50sPTC.

It's okay, just another excuse to go back, right? :thumbsup2

Thanks! It was an awful bug, but the story doesn't stop there with it. :sad2:

And I highly recommend the food at 50s, it was soo yummy! Even the kids enjoyed it (they always sample our food). DD is excited about next year, since she'll get to order her own meal - and while I don't look forward to it financially, it will be another dish at the table to sample. :lmao:

If you pop into 50s and try the food, lemme know what you think! :goodvibes

I am finally here. But at least I had a good excuse.

You had the best excuse ever for being late to the party! :cloud9: As much as we all hate to be back, I am glad you're back safely. I can't wait to hear about your adventures!

DD kept asking to eat Darth Vader. :lmao: I shared with her. I think DS stole DH's DV. And yes, I was shocked it was available as a dessert option. I didn't think it was, and didn't think to ask, but DH went ahead and ordered it. Then I was all .. "Wait a minute! I want one too!" I stomped my feet a bit.

Wow, 7 times on ST! I'm soo jealous! I can't wait to hear about your 7 ST adventures! I wish we could have gone back to DHS, but it just wasn't in the cards. :(

Anyway, don't leave me hanging, get that TR started soon and then pimp it out! :goodvibes

Double post. Sorry.

Don't let it happen again. :lmao::rotfl2:

I'll be happy to kick DH out and let you come along! :thumbsup2
He's no fun at WDW anyway!
:lmao::rotfl2:

I can't fathom not leaving the park until its bedtime (or closing). I honestly tried to consider afternoon breaks, but I just couldn't do it. I felt like we'd miss out on too much.

Ok totally feeling you on the blisters, I have 7 babies right now and a swollen foot I've been trying to keep propped up today.

Wow, 7??!! And swelling! Poor thing! Hope your DH is taking good care of you and tending to things around the house. (And that you feel better soon!!)

Like I said earlier, its no big deal, just another excuse to go back! And yes, the shakes were MMmmmmmmmMMMMmmmMmMMMM! DS kept swiping the tin container when I wasn't looking. He enjoyed it as well. I forced myself to eat a few bites, I had to know if it was as good as it looked (it was!). But I really was regretting the shake at that point. And then it got to the point where I was sick of chocolate. :scared1: (Can you imagine DH's face when I said "anything but chocolate"??!!) Oh, but we'll get to that later. lol

WOW!!! You better go out and play the lottery!! What are the odds of getting the same sequence twice in a row?!

I don't think having bad luck will help with the lottery. :lmao::rotfl2:

I'm glad your DH enjoyed the DV cupcake! DH saw the R2D2 souv with the mousse or whatever it was in it and wanted it. I told him to get it. He said he'd come back. Know what we don't have? :lmao: He forgot. (He's been wanting it since I showed him the pic off your TR.)

How was your lunch? I'm hoping you wrote about it on your TR! I'm headed that way shortly to check. And glad that Anakin enjoyed the pics! :goodvibes

I was shocked as well about the ears staying on. I did have the strap under my chin, but the guy next to DD told me to take it off. I was more afraid I'd lose it if I held onto it than if it was on my head. And yeah, I do fly out of my seat as well. I can't imagine throwing my hands up like that guy in center back. :rotfl: And yeah, I do get a little panicky at the end in the holding area. Well, anywhere I'm enclosed - but yes, there. I usually focus on talking to DD (or whoever is next to me) and it helps get my mind off things. I had to do the same thing when we went to Six Flags.

I'm just thankful that DD listens to someone .. and she was listening to the CM. Too bad its not me at home.

For dessert, I had Dad's Brownie Sundae.

Before I comment on anything else, I want you to know that it is all YOUR fault!!! I showed Mark this picture and he INSISTS that I change Mama Melrose to 50's Prime Time for our DHS morning/early p.m. in September. :lmao::lmao::lmao: So far I've not been able to, but it looks as I'll be searching every single day now.

I'm glad one of the waitresses had fun with you guys. And I thought what she did was hysterical.

We have never done Lights Motor Action and I'm not sure we will, but glad to see you ended up enjoying it.

Can I ask you why you rode TOT if you hate it? Was it just to keep your daughter company? TOT is my personal favorite

I wasn't talking about the bad luck. I was talking about your beating the odds!!

I was really nervous about eating at 50's Prime Time. It exceeded our expectations!! I will be writing about it. And I took some pics!

How is it my fault? You're the one that showed him the pictures! :lmao::rotfl2:

I am sorry that he's making you change though, and I do hope you get an ADR without much frustration. Hopefully the pixie dust will kick in early! :wizard:

I was pleased that at least someone was in character. And it was nice to hear other servers hamming it up. So I did watch other areas, just hated it wasn't my own. But that's what next year is for! :goodvibes

I didn't care if we watched it or not. I wanted to, as it was something new, but wasn't going to be heartbroken if we skipped it. And it was actually really entertaining. I got to see a lot of the "how's", and that's what I live for!

I rode ToT because it is DD's favorite ride. And I'm a paranoid mommy and I would have worried if she went alone. I mean, what if the ride broke down and she was stuck on it for who knows how long? I'd be afraid she'd get hysterical. And if something like that did happen, I'd rather be there with her. Besides, I'd do anything for my kids, at least once, if it made them happy. And I knew she wouldn't let me live it down if I skipped out. She actually bugged me all day "is it time to ride ToT yet?" And yes, that means I'll be riding again next year, and the year after. Until she gives up wanting to ride it.

I wasn't talking about the bad luck. I was talking about your beating the odds!!

I was really nervous about eating at 50's Prime Time. It exceeded our expectations!! I will be writing about it. And I took some pics!

But it was bad luck we scored the same sequence a few hours apart. :lmao: I'm sure if I played the lottery, something would happen and I'd end up having to pay the winner the large pot of cash or something. :rotfl2:

I'm totally looking forward to hearing about your 50s PTC evening! :goodvibes

Alright I probably haven't replied at all and I'm sorry - I'm juggling the worst vacation lag ever (seriously am I ever going to not be tired and feel like I just got back?) summer school, and work. But I have been reading!

I'm really enjoying your TR. DH & I absolutely loved the video of you telling your kids that you were going to Disney World. My DH laughed when your son said he didn't want to help Ben move anyway, LOL.

I'm jealous of how much you were able to do on your DHS day, I don't think we did very much but we did do TSM twice.

 I'm so sorry you're struggling. I hope you recover quickly! And I do hope you aren't coming down with something. :(

I'm glad you guys enjoyed the video. It was cute, DD was whining that she refused to help Ben move, and DS was all about helping him. He couldn't wait to help Ben move (and I think part of that stemmed because DH has taken him along with him to help Ben pack). So we really thought it hilarious when DS went from "OMG I can't wait to help Ben move" to "Ben sucks!" :lmao:

I was a bit sad at what we missed out on. I was feeling confident we'd get everything done - as we have in the past. And with TP estimating crowds to be so low (compared to my previous trips), I was really bummed to miss things like TSM and the parade (I've never seen the DHS parade). But it just makes me want to go back even more.

I'm sorry you missed out on things too. I'm used to doing TSM twice ... so it was a big heartbreak to not even get to ride once.

I feel the same way, I thought I was doing so well then realize what I didnt get to and get dissapointed. Oh well another time, one day...
I had that Darth vader Cupcake too, so did DH. DH cut it to share with the kids and Ods exclaimed "Hey, why are you cutting my cucpcake" DH chuckled um not yours but Ill share. DS looked a bit taken back as DH slid him a cookie and said this is your dessert:rotfl2: I think that was pretty tastey although I wasnt too impressed with most of their desserts. They looked amazing but always tasted just ok(the family agreed.)

I'm here and caught up! We just got back today... and I'm tired! I'm starting my TR tomorrow... hopefully :goodvibes

I'm really jealous of your Magician Mickey pictures. I had seen so many pictures of Mickey and Minnie together in there that I assumed they were always together. We waited for 10 minutes (not long at all, so I could've been much more disappointed) and it was just Mickey. He was one of the best interactions with my girls, but I was really wanting a picture with all of us with mickey and minnie. Oh well, there's always next time! :)

They had those Darth Vader cupcakes at Starring Rolls and I was tempted to get one, but I had been looking forward to the butterfinger cupcake for MONTHS! So I just had to get it!
