The train is really easier to get to Paris? I must have looked at it wrong. I thought it was more than a day.

The train we are taking is an overnight, it leaves at 8:45pm at night, we can sleep on the train and it gets to Paris in the morning. I think it is a 12 hour train ride. We were gonna do it this way so we could spend more time in Barcelona, if we took a flight we would get in at an odd time, then have to get an extra hotel for a night and all sorts of stuff. Sure you could take a flight, we are just choosing not to do so.:upsidedow

What are you going to do about luggage in barcelona? I think we have the same plan, but going to London and obviously don't want to drag bags around the city all day!

Same question here. My original plan was to take the train to Paris after spending a day in Barcelona. I like the idea of taking it in the evening and just sleeping the whole way! As far as what to do with luggage while checking out the sites in Barcelona...I have no idea. What do we do with them? Before the overnight train comment, I figured we'd get a room for one night and go to the hotel straight from the ship. Even if the room wasn't ready, maybe they could hold our bags. But I'm really liking the overnight train to Paris deal, so I'd rather go that route.

ValBob: I like this cute graphic with the marching mickeys carrying flags :) very nice!

For whoever chooses to take on the Champagne Girls event (or is curious about what the heck it is!), here is a lengthy thread with it's history, old pics, and post #41 has details on who to contact at DCL to arrange the room:

Also, this link of cute earrings was within that thread:

I did not attend last time because I am not a huge champagne fan, but WILL attend this time! :cool1:

Quick question please aswe're just about to book. TA has come back with a cat 11b on a GUARANTEE BASIS or for a bit more Cat 11A or 10C with a room assigned - what's the benefit of guarantee basis or assigned room?

We are going to stay one night in Barcelona before taking the train to Paris, so the train would be on our second (night) so we were going to leave bags at the hotel before our train departure.

I agree I think the overnight train sounds good to us! Like I said above though we were planning on staying in Barcelona 1 night before doing the train so we would have somewhere for our luggage, but after the post about the luggage storage we might change our plans...LOL

This may help you guys looking for luggage storage in Barcelona

This is an awesome link! We were planning on staying an extra day in Barcelona, but when I saw this I thought what a great idea!! This should help loads of people out!

Well if you get an assigned room you will pretty much be know where you are going to be on the ship right away, with a Guarantee room if they happen to sell out of the category that you booked into, you will be upgraded to the next available category. I hope I am right about this info, I don't think there is any other advantage? If anyone else can comment please do :goodvibes

 WE FINALLY BOOKED!!!!! We went for a cat 10c and got cabin 1043. Now off to book flights.

Congrats on booking! :cheer2: And to respond about the cabin... we found on the WBTA we were literally NEVER in our room --- there was SO MUCH always going on that we couldn't even squeeze in naps! That's saying a lot because we had a 15 month old and one who just turned five who were both still in the napping era. We were only there to shower, change clothes, and sleep at night. :thumbsup2

Booked our air to Houston this morning. :woohoo::woohoo: Got great non-stop flights using air miles. Also made a reservation at the Marriott GB Intercontinental for the night before. We plan to take the tram back to the airport and use DCL transfers to the port the morning of the cruise.

DCL is using the airport Marriott for guests booked through them too, but I booked a AAA rate on my own that includes breakfast.

We aren't in our room much either. My nap tends to be by the pool on a lounger!
I installed the Dis iPhone app and trying to figure it out but I like it so far!

I just sent Chris various event descriptions he could consider using on the webpage. So glad he is volunteering to be our webmaster!! :wizard: I included several events just so there is a description out there, even if someone has not taken an event yet. Those descriptions can certainly change once someone takes on each event! :thumbsup2

I noticed we have no Farewell Luncheon listed, and propose we add that. It serves a two-fold purpose as we can also do the Secret Mickey Reveal at that time (last sea day - 12:15 Lumiere's). Are there any concerns with adding this as an event from anyone?

Since there is no pre-cruise DCL involvement needed for the following events, can we go ahead and put these down in the following timeslots to help alleviate any double-booking of events? None of these require $$ either and are hopefully arranged to avoid Character Breakfasts and Princess Teas that DCL will have. And of course I do not mind organizing these - and Tink1987 has PJ Breakfast. Are there any concerns with adding these event times from anyone?

  • Embarkation Day Meet-And-Greet (and receive lanyards)
  • Pajama Breakfast (and have lanyards available should some have missed meet-and-greet)
  • Toddler Meet-and-Greet
  • DIS Farewell Luncheon (which usually incorporates Secret Mickey Reveal)

Day 1 Galveston, Texas DIS Meet-and-Greet 3:00
Day 2 At Sea DIS PJ Breakfast 8:45 Lumiere's Toddler Meet-and-Greet Splash Pool 11:00
Day 3 At Sea
Day 4 Castaway Cay, Bahamas 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
Day 5 At Sea
Day 6 At Sea
Day 7 At Sea
Day 8 At Sea
Day 9 At Sea
Day 10 At Sea
Day 11 Funchal, Madeira, Portugal
Day 12 At Sea
Day 13 Gibraltar, United Kingdom 7:30 am 6:00 pm
Day 14 At Sea DIS Farewell Lunch and Secret Mickey Reveal 12:15
Day 15 Barcelona, Spain

General Descriptions:

Embarkation Day Meet-and-Greet onboard -
There will be a brief get together in the Promenade Lounge (deck 3) at 3pm on embarkation day. It will be a great opportunity to put faces to DIS usernames, pick up your lanyards from the Lanyard TEAM, as well as letting us all know of any room changes for those participating in exchanges and events (such as Fish Extenders, Candy Swap, and Secret Mickey - if anyone upgraded at embarkation). No sign-up necessary!

DIS Pajama Breakfast -
Meet for pictures at 8:45 the first sea day followed by breakfast in Lumiere's wearing your G-rated PAJAMAS! This is not a private function but Lumiere's will be notified in advance of our group attending so staffing/table arrangements can be made based on how many sign up prior to May 15. No charge!

DIS Toddler Meet-up -

No charge and no sign-up necessary - Just show up!! An informal "toddler meet-n-greet" for the kiddos too young for Kids Club (under age three) on the first sea day from 11:00-11:30. That way they get a chance to meet, Moms get a chance to meet (and/or Dads), etc. Planning on the area in the shade by the toddler splash area - just a place so that we can meet before lunch/naps/cranky time This will help us recognize one another the remainder of the cruise as well.

DIS Farewell Lunch -

Come & join us for a farewell DIS lunch on the last sea day at 12:15 at Lumiere's. This is not a private function but Lumiere's will be notified in advance of our group attending so staffing/table arrangements can be made based on the number of guests who sign up prior to May 15. No charge!

This leaves many sea days available for the other activities that need to be submitted to DCL, and provides an opportunity to organize their scheduling to minimize any overlapping of DIS activities. Of course there will be things that appear in the Navigators, but at least the DIS activities won't overlap each other.
