Has any one got a really good rate through these. None the coupons are good yet on different sites. The lowest I am getting is 93 dollars with Hotwire. When you use these are there any hidden fees? If you name your own price on priceline, can you guarantee a pick-up at the airport? Any coupons or discounts codes appreciated.

I check weekly for new rates, and as the trip gets closer, probably daily. Last year we had a rental from Alamo for late May for 8 days, standard size, for under $200, so I'm sure you can find a great rate through them.

Best advice, make a reservation, and then cancel/modify as better rates become available.

As far as hotwire/priceline, I haven't used them before for cars. I use priceline for hotels a lot. There have never been any hidden fees. It always tells me up front, including taxes, what my costs will be. Only extras were if the hotel was a resort and there was a resort fee or parking fee.

**Just looked up your dates on alamo, and it seems you're probably running into coupon/discount issues because you're staying less than a week. Rental companies seems to want to charge you more when you stay less than a week...really dumb if you ask me!

I think you are right. Those coupon did not work because of the length of stay. I will just keep checking.

I just booked a rental car through priceline for Orlando. I got a compact car for $12 a day for 12 days!

Booked Hotwire, fullsize, Hertz in airport, May 5-12, $171 ($12.95/day). Used Budget x474200 coupon, for some reason it lowered the price by $1/day.

Wow thats really high for a compact, the problem with Priceline is that their taxes and fees come out to almost as much as you are paying to rent the car

Well... way to deflate my excitement! ;-) lol j/k. I thought it was a great deal. The total for 12 days ended up being $255. Where would you suggest finding cheaper rates in the future?

I'm sorry !! didn't mean to deflate your excitement ! usually alamo (with a code and coupon) or hotwire is cheaper, next time you'll know ! :rotfl:

All of the carriers that Hotwire/Priceline use are at the airport terminal, with no need for a shuttle. Hertz was the last one that was not on-site (not that their shuttle was bad), but they moved back last year.

This isn't Hotwire/Priceline, this is the rental company passing the taxes onto the customer. Airport pickup of rental cars is big business for local authorities and the taxes really can be high. There are some places where a day rental can be more then doubled by taxes (ie. the taxes are higher then the rental price).

It's been my experience that Hotwire is always more expensive that Priceline. In fact, I start bidding on PL at 60% of HW's price!

Yep that's usually been the case for me too, but not this time

ETA.. Priceline used to come out cheaper than hotwire, but seriously you bid 60% less than their price ? what are you bidding 3 bucks ? 8 days for hotwire all taxes included was $151

I bid at 60% of Hotwire's price. Hotwire's rate for BDJazz's dates is $13.95. I would have started bidding at $9 per day.

Rates are pretty outrageous right now for May. I think you got a decent deal. I booked through hotwire after exhausting myself checking all the company's direct websites, all the travel sites, using all the coupon codes... there was nothing better out there and prices were only going up up up

I paid $13.95/day for 9 days standard size.

Taxes/fees were an additional 60% added on top (via hotwire or direct booking, that didn't change). The only thing different w/ hotwire is that there were no extras included (like 2nd driver free for example).
