WOW, if you had moved out sooner, we could have been classmates. That's pretty cool! I moved into NYC in 1976....was there throughout the 80's and then some....until I lived in Long Beach and only worked in NYC...those were the single days....until I moved back to the East End and met DH.

:cheer2: :flower3: :cheer2:

That's too funny!

Silly me Angie . . . I thought in the mountains of Colorado in the 1950's they would use the Sears catalog for something else . . .

BTW - they were still spanking in the 1960's, and my mom would carve a switch from her favorite bush. My dad used his belt - although I could run from him - mom would make me feel to guilty to run. I played army too.

Actually, John you are not too far off! :lmao: I do remember having an outhouse when I was 4. Before we moved up the canyon that I remember most. (and there was a catalog in there! :rotfl: ) A cousin of a cousin or ours fell in the outhouse once! :lmao: :lmao: His name was Bennie Mack and for some unknown reason he was playing in there! EEEWWW! He was jumping across the holes (it was a two holer:lmao: ) and fell right in. My mom and I were talking about him recently and she said he has not changed much!!! :lmao: :rotfl:

One more post and I have GOT to go to bed!

Indians won first game of the double header with the Mariners 12-4, and are up in the second game 2-0.

An FYI to those of you who may not listen to the Podcast . . . the DIS podcast gang is planning a meet at WDW on 12/6, and 12/13. Maybe those of us at WDW could go to that meet and get to meet too. We are flying in on the 6th.

Good night all! Too late to be up in Ohio!

6:00 will be here too soon!

It will be 6 am even sooner in NY.. I hate working late!!

Those are great memories Noel and how different growing up in a city is from the rural mountains....like Angie. How many brothers and sisters do you have? I wonder who has more, you or Angie? Just curious and doing the comparison.

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I am the oldest of five girls.

An older brother and an older sister. I was the baby. We lived outside of Somerset. The closest town of any size was Paonia, about 25 miles. The children were bused to Paonia after 5th grade. There were only 1-4th grades in Somerset. 4 kids in my first grade class, we shared a teacher with the 2nd and 3rd graders. We were just over the pass from Crested Butte, which was nearly a ghost town then, but I understand it is quite a ski resort area now. Not too far from Rifle, we too were on the Western Slope...the REAL Colorado according to those who live there. ;) We moved to Paonia area, still outside of town when I was 11, 1961. That was the first time we could have a TV as we lived in a box canyon and could not get any reception...way before cable or satelite. Really a wonderful childhood. We moved to Southern Cal when I was 13. Now THAT was culture shock! :scared: In 7th grade I was playing jump rope and jacks and after a summer move all the girls were in nylons and makeup in 8th grade. :upsidedow

What a great story growing up for you was....great memories too!!!! I remember bringing my Rifle friend to NYC for the first time....talk about culture shock....he had to leave....he just could not stay there.

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I guess he didn't move to California.....:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I'll bet it was! I still have not been to NYC. This is on my list of places to see. Sometimes I think about that little mountain girl. She never DREAMED she would meet a prince  who would show her all the wonderful places and things she has seen. "I Can Show You The World" from Aladdin is my very favorite song!

....lots of estrogen in your family....mine is the complete opposite!

How great to be the oldest of four sisters. I always wanted an older sister.

So in the city....your family had five children and in the mountains, Angie's family had three....more in the city and less in the mountains....no reason why, just an observation.

Awww, that's so sweet!

I've been chatty tonight. Hope I did not bore you all. I need to get to bed now. I have a terrible cold and I HAVE to go to work tomorrow since 3 out of the 4 of us will not be there tomorrow. Leaves only me to hold down the fort. I left work a couple of hours early today hoping to come home and lie down. But....both daughters needed me to run a couple of errands for them and both really needed me to do that, so....I got settled in about the usual time. Good thing I headed out early though. Things are always as they should be. ;)

GinaMarie....I think we already lost John and Noel....time for me to say Good Night too!!!! Don't stay up too late and have a great Thursday! Nice chatting tonight. Sweet Mickey Dreams!!!!!

Sometimes if I eat a lot of chocolate or sweet stuff in the evening I can't sleep either. I'm worried what I will be like on the cruise - wandering the hallways at 2am. Suppose I could do everyone's laundry!:lmao:

Thank you, that would be very nice. DH asks where you want us to leave it for you.

Jan :earsgirl:

I'm too tired to catch up but wanted to stop by and say "hi"! I'm having a great time at the del. http://www.hoteldel.com/ It is just amazing. I had dinner tonight at Mister As - http://www.bertrandatmisteras.com/ It was amazing. Wondering duck with Caymus. I'm at a conference and a vendor we work with treated about 20 of us to a fabulous dinner.

This hotel is incredible. I have a great view of the ocean from my balcony. DH can't come tomorrow as planned due to work. Major bummer. But I'm happy he is busy, as that is good news.

Anyway, I will try to catch up sometime tomorrow. Good night all!
Lisa
