I have been gone all day, so I am sure that this has been answered, but real sponges are living animals. The sponge is the "shell" of the animal that lives inside. They live on the bottom of the ocean, and divers in the old kind of dive suits (big helmet and hoses going down from the boat) used to dive for them in the warm waters off of Tarpon Springs.

Natural sponges are the absolute BEST sponges, and until they fished them dry in the gulf, it was a booming business for the Greek community there.

Ok, went thru the corporate office but got that location for the rental car. We got an SUV too Jackie just like you wanted. THANKS LiserAnn!!! One less thing to worry about! That location is on Donald Douglas Drive if anyone is interested - Long Beach.

You're welcome...but just wanted to make sure that you know the Donald Doulgas location is near the LB airport, which is much farther than the other location I posted about (15 miles vs 6). How are you going to get from the port to the rental office?

Hi everyone, I have'nt been on in a loooooooooong time. I do try and keep up but I mostly just lurke.
I am booked for this cruise, my very first ever and I am going solo but I am so excited. I live in Western Canada and I see that there are other Canadians on this cruise. I would like to know how I can link my dining (2nd) with another solo dis'er, and when and I would like to know what excursions some of you have so I can join some of you. Also, what are the special get togethers that have been planned? I see the champagne girls that I would love to join.

Hi Deb,

I do the same...one day at a time. Some days are ok and others can be really hard. After seeing my aunt yesterday I was barely able to make it through the rest of the afternoon at work. When I got to DH work and knew that I did not have to keep a "stiff upper lip" the water works started.

Mom and I had the same doctor, who called me when she was notified. She told me that if I wanted she could perscribe something, but her best advice was "Just cry"
I was on vacation from work to day, but kept busy doing some power cleaning. So today was an ok day.

I do have two siblings. big brother and little brother. I have the task of handling her finances. They were both helpful when we had to make the arraingments and clean out her apartment. Now we are planning on what we want at her Life Celebration we will hold in October. Her birthday is Oct 10th and we wanted to have a celebration which would not be as somber and more of her siblings and their families would be able to attend. We are planning a BBQ at a local park. Mom loved BBQ. I want to do a butterfly release. My older brother and his family are making a photo display of her life.

You will be in my thoughts tomorrow when you take Ray to the moseleum. I know it will be hard.

Venetia, I love your idea of a BBQ at a park, with the butterfly release. Such an uplifting way to honor and remember your mom.

Must be nice to have a brother mother hen to look after you!

It's comforting...sometimes overbearing like when he counts how many cokes I drink in a day...but mostly he's great at taking care of everything that needs to get done.

I think you said you're the oldest and you have a baby brother. Do you have one or two other sisters? I always wanted to have a sister, just didn't happen.

Thanks, but the reading is next wed...sorry if I confused you about that, I know I didn't make it clear. Good thing it's next week, bro comes home on Sat and we need time to put all the paperwork together. I haven't even thought about doing it yet.

All went very well at both doctor's appointments. Everything is A-OK and my colonoscopy is scheduled for January 11, 2008 as has to be at least 8 weeks after surgery!! I got the new DPT booster as I needed at tetanus shot. Anyone have one of those yet?

YEA!!! What a relief! The colonoscopy is easy, just gross the day before when you have to clean out your system. Keep up your good attitude to getting through all these medical trials and tribulations. You're doing great!!!

Holly, you will love this story. Youngest DD, Samantha just came in and plopped on my bed to say, "Ok, as much as I hate to admit it, you are right."
Music to this mother's ears.

She said, "You were right about Crystal (her high school), you were right about USD (her University), you were right about Oliver (ex boyfriend) and now as much as I hate to admit it, you are right, I am going to go to law school. I want to do this internship for next few months and then I am going to start studying for the LSAT while I work part time. Every job I look at bores me and for what I want to do, I need a law degree. Ok, Mom, you can say, I told you so."

I didn't tell her I told you so but what I did tell her is that I was proud of her for coming to her own conclusions.

And of course there was no phone call since day care was closed due to power outage. Tyler went to work with his stepmom and his dad told me he was really good all day and had a great day. Well, of course! He wasn't at day care! BUT a good day is a good day, no matter where he was, so he gets to earn a toy & stuffed animal back for today! I'm going to call him at day care in the morning and tell him about Llamafest and tell him I'll take him there Saturday if he behaves at day care tomorrow. Hopefully that motivation will help.

Not sure about driving to DL, never doing it. I'll have to check and see if we can drop the car at DL.

If anybody is going to the DL hotel then maybe we can share a van.

I had ordered some butterflies for Molly's bday a few years back and loved the company we used. I was nervous about them being ok when we wanted to let them free. They came fed ex and everyone of them was ready to fly. I'll try to look up the company name and forward it to you for your mom's celebration. I love your idea. The butterflies are such gentle and beautiful creatures and to see them fly from ones own hand is very uplifting (pardon the pun)
