The Aquarium of the Pacific has the "wow" factor, and is my favorite aquarium in California after the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

The Cabrillo Maritime Museum is much smaller, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Since we love aquariums, we'll be going to at least one or more of these as time permits. Thanks for the info.

Good morning on a beautiful Sunday morning.
Stoke-on-Trent was my favorite day trip...visiting all the pottery factories. It was just great! Lisa
We have a US base here near Harrogate and they have trips down to the pottery shops for the wives. We had some families in our church and they used to come back with loads of Wedgwood china. I was quite jealous.

Just popping in to say hey...

Hey to you too.:)

John1, Dennis got the horns he ordered for the RV, got them put in, I found a copy of the ship's horn from CD DCL sent out on the web (ours was broken when it arrived), we got it recorded and he is working on getting the recording on the horns now! :woohoo: What fun it will be to blow that horn as we pull out! :cool1:

That would be so brilliant. Love it.

Can you believe it was SNOWING here tonight!

JEESH - can we have some Spring already!

Seems like your winter is going on and on and on. One day though......:)

My cruise box has some lime green dice (for Bunko) and some Mickey playing cards. Oh, and also my SPECIAL DIS shirt, but I'll be wearing it to the DIS meet in May (sneak preview!):yay:

I amgoing to keep my eye out for lime green anything!:rotfl:

Good Morning Marilyn, I'm still up here...took a nap earlier. I'm glad someone has Springlike weather. It's going backwards here...more snow on the way. DREAD!:headache:

How is your weekend going? Do you have any plans for today?

We had a quiet day yesterday...stayed indoors, it was cold and nasty outside. DGS Tom came over and gave Angel a bath. She looked so very funny with her wet long hair.

Today, we're running errands and I'm cooking meat loaf and potatoes in a tomatoe sauce. We'll open a bottle of red wine to go with it.
:thumbsup2

We love aquariums too and are members of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Too bad you're not headed up north as we have guest passes for this wonderful place!

Sounds yummy!! What wine will you be having??
(Of course, I had to ask!)

Karen

Good morning Marilyn!

Still rainy and cold here this evening/early morning. It is supposed to be nicer and warmer tomorrow... we'll see.

We are planning to work on the house, do more laundry :laundy: and MORE paperwork tomorrow!!

Have a wonderful day!

How far is Monterey Bay from LA??? We don't have any set plans yet, still scoping it out. We definitely want to do a coastal drive. We have to pick one direction.

Naturally, we would love to do the wine country, but we don't have enough time to travel that far and do that many stops. We'll have to save that for another trip.;)

Not sure yet, have to do an inventory of what's still left. I didn't like the Merlot we had at Easter, although John and others scoffed it down. They also liked the Stump Jump that we brought. I thought the Merlot had a strong aftertaste and about half way through the glass, I began to dislike it. Maybe very strong tannins, not sure. I'll try another today and let you know.:cutie:

You would need more time to do some of SoCal and some of NoCal! Monterey Bay is quite a drive. I've done it in 5 1/2 hours from Martinez to Anaheim, but I was 18 years younger!

Of course, there are aquariums and wineries at both ends of the state. (As well as in the middle!)

Was it the O'Brien Merlot? It is very good, but is not as smooth and "big" as some others that I like.

What will you try next? That was the only Merlot from our website.

I think we'll save the northern run for another visit. 5-6 hours for a one way drive would be way too much to do in a day. I want to do day trips from Rodondo Beach area. I'm not so much of a gypsy as I was in my youth. I'd rather stay in one place instead of moving from hotel to hotel. That's probably why we picked the southern drive. Not sure how long it will take, but it looks doable in a day. Guess we'll find out.  California is a big state.

It was the O'Brien. After the Spencer Roloson, I was spoiled.

Not sure what we'll do next, I have to check with my better half since he's in charge of wines. He's sleeping right now, though.

Do you still have any of the Spencer Roloson left. Let me know when you can. I really loved that one.

I agree with the staying in one spot and unpacking once! That's why we LOVE cruising!! We move from place to place, but all our stuff stays in one spot!!:thumbsup2

Ditto!!!

I think now that DCL is going to be on the West Coast more...especially with new ships in the works...we will be able to explore California on more than just this one trip. I'm pretty sure we'll be back!

Next I want to do Hawaii...but only if DCL takes me there.

Then, the Greek Islands and Italy.

I'm hoping with the new ships we'll have more opportunities...of course, there's that house we have to build in Delaware...

So I don't know how much cruising we can do in the next four years. Hopefully, at least one a year. Then after the house is built and we move and retire...way more time for cruising.

Well I just finished cleaning out my email inbox and I'm ready to shut down for a few hours.

I hope you have a fabulous day tomorrow...no stresses....:hippie: :hippie:

cya on the boards until we meet for real!:thumbsup2

Deb,

I was replying to this and my laptop shutdown for NO reason!!

I hate that when that happens!!!

We only have a couple of bottles of the Spencer Roloson left. The next release will come out in a couple of months or so.

The other syrah that you ordered is very good too, a bit liter than the Spencer Roloson, but a very good syrah all the same!!

Another really rich Shiraz (same as Syrah, but from "down under") is the Annie's Lane Shiraz!! I have quite a bit of this one and it is really good too!

I will be toddeling off to bed soon as well!

Maybe we'll see them all on the same cruises!!

We do absolutely LOVE San Diego! I'm pretty sure that it's an easy day trip to go down there, but we have never driven it, just flown down and spent a few days down there.

We haven't been down to SD for a long time. I'm hoping to use DVC points to stay at the Del Coronado! It's the ultimate, moi thinks!!
