Maybe I'll go to Neiman Marcus for a pair of shoes tomorrow. Wish it was time for a last call sale! Wait a minute...I have to save for this cruise so maybe I'll just dream of Jimmy Choo tonight! :cloud9:

Ok - off to catch up. Lisa

I'm torn about what to do tomorrow. I really want to go shopping for our vacation next week, but I don't actually need anything. I think I will head to the all-day scrapbooking session at my Creative Memories consultant's house tomorrow instead. It will keep me out of major shopping trouble, but I will still get to spend some $$$. And maybe I will get the tiniest bit caught up on my scrapbooks.

Ok, heading off to bed. We were at a HS tournament BB game tonight. Our team won!

Lisa, one of the kids on our team that I have talked about (the seven foot two Greek boy - Kosta Koufos) is going to Ohio State next year, and we even had the Greek National team coach here scouting him for the Greek Olympic Team last week!

He was born here, but you can play if you are of Greek Ancestry.

Another question to see how geeky you all may be . . . How many of you have iPods, and how many in your family?

Between the four of us, we have SEVEN iPods! Four video iPods (one each) a shuffle, a nano, and a non-video iPod. I am a Mac AND iPod Geek.

(Apple TV is on order too)

3 for 3 Ipods here. Geeks! :lmao: :lmao:

Good Morning!

All but two of his books stand alone (I have not read his first book though - yet). The last two, The Templar Legacy and The Alexandria Link share a common protagonist.

but in order they are:

The Amber Room
The Romanov Prophecy
The Third Secret
The Templar Legacy
The Alexandria Link

Lisa - we can work on our Greek for 15 days!

Starting a bit late this evening (morning) as we have been in the Russian River wine country and just got to our place in Bodega Bay (gorgeous!)

John, the titles alone have me interested! The Romanovs, knights templar, Alexandria, oh my!!!

I'll be looking for these very soon!!

Thanks so much for the recommendation!!

Karen

We're on a small lake in the west metro area called Lotus Lake. It's only 246 acres in size. Mille Lacs is 132,000 acres! I've never been there but I've seen lots of pictures. It really does look beautiful even in the winter.

It was lovely! I drove around it and it took me most of the day! Had some wonderful Walleye as well!

After the training that I did there, I met with my cousin who is from Minnesota and we saw a Twinkies game in the dome!! Then a couple of hours at the Mall of America (not even a 100th enough time there!!) and then I flew home. Great trip!!

I have also been to two Creative Memories conventions in Minneapolis, and that was great too!

Ok - I finally was able to get the sizes on the bracelets....

small - 18cm..7 1/16 inches..."generally fits preschoolers only"

medium - 20cm..7 7/8 inches..."fits 80% of population, and preferred size. Fits almost all school age children, women, and even most men. May be streched to a large size if necessary"

large - 21cm..8 1/14 inches..."generally is only required for 5-10% of population and would not be a good size for a mix of the general population"

That being said.....below is who I have on the list and what sizes were requested....let me know if you change your minds, or if you want to be added to the list. I WILL try to get a price this weekend from the company and then pass on the info to you.

I liked the The Time Traveller's Wife, but I was often very confused...Historian was good! Really liked The Book Thief (Markus Zusak), the Katherine Neville books (esp The Eight), The Rule of Four (Ian Caldwell) and have been strangely attracted to Wicked and Son of a Witch. Love Dan Brown, too!

Carolyn

Gregroy Maguire, author of Wicked and Son of a Witch has a new book out called "Lost". My friend in New York sent it to me for my birthday as she and I went to see the premiere of Wicked in SF. I really prefered the musical to the book, the book was so dark and I hated the ending. He writes wonderfully though, and really pulls you in.

I hope to start the new one soon!

Morning all, morning Karen.

Up a little later today and of course the board is so slow at this time. It has taken ages to read through, and even longer to try and get this reply up!

Thought I would stop in and and say Hi! Just booked on the Western Repo with the family. Way too much to get caught up on, but will give it a try.

Hi and welcome.

Ok - I tried this earlier in the thread and I can't believe there are so many posts out there. Life here got complicated - no need to explain, but I'm starting over and want to introduce myself and hopefully you can guide me to all the goodies of how to get into groups, etc. I just can't read all the stuff up til now - there is no time or energy for that.
This will be my third cruise and it's my husband's and my 10th anniversary celebration. We are in our mid 50's and so if there are others out there who are like us, let me know. I am the Disney fanatic of the family - I just wish I could live there - it's the place I find my peace and my joy.
So, let me know what to do next. I"m not the swiftest person when it comes to computers -- I've gotten confused and lost on this site already and had to change everything. Rather than going back over and figuring it out and remembering who contacted me - I'm starting fresh.
I don't have a cabin number yet. I was one of those people who's TA didn't get in on time because the lines were busy so I had two reservations. The one had me in the back of the ship which I didn't want so I'm now on a category 5 guaranty but no room assignment. I am very claustrophobic so I wanted a room with a deck that is clear and now find out I have to get a medical form to request that....I'm so annoyed that it became so complicated. I loved my cabin the last time - I was on deck 6 near the forward elevators - it was so perfect. So, we'll see what happens. Since it's such a long cruise I want to have a room I will like and be comfy in. Well, now it's time to start putting the money away right??? I look forward to getting tips on shore excursions and stuff. I did read you were thinking about doing wristbands -- that is a great idea - they did that on my last cruise and it was fun to walk by someone and be able to say hi.
I still find it so amazing to see so many posts so early in the game - I hope I can keep up :). (I am a very fun person - sorry if I sound overwhelmed - I was going to wait before I wrote in but I didn't want more time to pass - I have major oral surgery next week so I need pixie dust - I'll just keep focusing on going through the PC -- my dream - always wanted to do it!) I wanted to go to Disney at the end of April so I'd have something to look forward to but DH isn't interested...sigh. I've taken my sister and each of my grown daughters except one so I get to take the final daughter in October - :cheer2: . Well, I'm sure I'll get to know you all better as time goes by - -as long as I get the hang of staying on the boards :).

Hello, welcome too. I will be just 60 by the time this cruise comes around. It is my celebration/present!!! Seems to be quite a few of us 'older' folk onboard.

Well, Saturday and it looks lovely outside. It will soon really be spring.:yay: Daffodills are out and all looks pretty.

Have a good day.

Karen: I love the DP too...I'm in split a case? I can live without it for 15 days, thankfully I'll subsitute RUM

Karen:

This is too cool, I should have asked when you mentioned it earlier in the week, but I wasn't thinking....My neighbor is a dealer (yes they are like drugs) I had to halt myself after the 7th year of Easter Baskets as I can't keep storing them...my office is longabergered, my kitchen is longabergered, my beach house (we had one in Half Moon Bay from 2001-2003) was longabergered...those are being stored for when we find the real house in Half Moon Bay (we've been looking for 18 months to move over there)

Nanette,

I have two friends who are consultants, one moved to New York, but they always knew that they could call me if they needed to show a basket to someone as I have more of them than the two of them put together. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have slowed down my compulsion, though and have not filled our Bodega Bay Beach house with baskets as we rent it out through vacation rentals. The only thing Longaberger here (I'm in Bodega right now) is the Heritage large mixing bowl in blue! I love their pottery too!

Karen

You would be right on our title of Geeks;

Geek; |gi?k| a person with an eccentric devotion to a particular interest

Nerd; |n??d| a foolish or contemptible person who lacks social skills or is boringly studious

We aren't boring, just devoted, :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Not too mention that we are not Social Skill deprived!!

Karen

Just a quick question that has been on my mind.

Just wonder how many "Parrot Heads" might be in this group?:confused3

If you have no idea what a "parrot Head" is do not worry, however you may be one before this cruise is over.

Doug

Count my DH and I in on the Parrot Head count!!

DH could hang out at the Bar on Castaway Cay just to listen to the looping Buffet tracks!! (Nothing to do with DOD, of course!!)

Karen

John-that is so cool! What a great Greek name...Kosta Koufos. My uncle is named Costa (Costantine). Do you think Kosta will be recruited for the Greek team?

iPods....well you'd think with a hubby an sales rep for Hewlett Packard we'd be more techy, but we're not. One iPod, one laptop, one desktop. But we do have a TON of printers (HP of course). Last count I believe there were 6...but his product lines are printers and imaging, so he needs to use them to know them. ;)

Lisa,

HP's are the only printers for us! We have four of them at home and two at the office!!

As for PC's there ar 3 of us and we have 2 desktop systems and 1 laptop. Our DD has an MP3 and my new phone (cherry chocolate) also has MP3 capabilities.

Karen

Ok, I need to catch up, I need to join the lose it cruiser thread, I need a glass (or two) of wine from Karen's wine shop, I need a new pair of shoes from Norsdrom (sorry John Jhalkias- don't mean to start a shoe talk again), I need this cruise to be sooner!

Spent the whole day in ICU. My friend (diagnosis last Thursday w/cancer) has too many clots in her arms and neck area. :sad2: Her husband has the flu so can't visit and they don't let children of course in ICU so she can't see her little girl either. Ugg. Messy, chaotic communication as we traveled from radiology to ICU to cath/radiology lab. She decided to do the infertilty testing and post-pone chemo and start radiation first. I'm being supportive but scared about her choice - this type of cancer (non-hodgkins, large B cell) protocol is chemo first. But she really wants another baby and feels the IVF thing is her only chance. But hormone shots? I don't know. Just seems like she should focus every bit of energy fighting this cancer (and right now blood clots). Thanks for listening...no need to respond- I know you are all out there  now back to John's favorite subject::goodvibes

Lisa

Lisa,

I would dream of Jimmy Choo Shoes, but not necessarily Jimmy Choo!

Karen

I love all the suggestions for books and authors. I belong to a book club, so I am usually reading whatever the club has picked, currently "The Innocent Man" by John Grisham, although I haven't started it yet. We just finished "Keeping Faith" by Jodi Picoult (sp?), which I liked, but not as much as "My Sister's Keeper." Anyway, I seem to be the oddball in my book club because I seem to keep picking unusual books that no one else really "gets" or likes. My recent picks were "Wicked" and "The Time Traveller's Wife" (which I really, really liked). The reaction from most of my club was "it was weird" or "I don't read science fiction." Whatever. I thought the point of a book club was to expand your horizons a bit and flex those brain muscles. I'm glad to see such a wide array of interests here, and I have lots of new books to add to my must-read list.

Another book that I have sitting, waiting for me to find the time to read it is "The Memory Keepers Daughter" by Kim Edwards. I read a synopsis of it on my Borders email page and it sounded really good so I picked up at Sam's club. It sounds like a good "book club" book that might appeal to everyone.
