Well it was a beautiful but nithering day today. We went for a longish way round walk to town and had coffee and a bacon butty. Then we looked around and shopped a bit before I went to the hairdressers. 2 hours there and we met up again for the first of my birthday treats - afternoon tea at Betty's. Yummy. It is a bit of a posh cafe and we have been a few times, but the actual 'afternoon tea' is always too expensive - hence the treat as I have always wanted to indulge.

4 finger sandwiches, choice of smoked salmon, Yorkshire ham, free range egg and mayonnaise, or roast chicken. Then a scone, jam and clotted cream. Followed by 3 mini cakes. All served beautifully on a 3 tiered china cake thingy! Tea was loose tea served in silver teapot. So very civilised!:) Let me tell you that it costs £14-95 - probably around $35.:rolleyes1

Queue was outside the door when we arrived and it took us 25 mins to get a table. Getting in practice for WDW!!!!!!!!!

Now the clouds have rolled in and we are preparing to wake up to snow tomorrow.

I think that sounds wonderful. I have always wanted to do a "tea" like that!

Sounds like a wonderful outing. :goodvibes Everything sounds yummy too, but what's a bacon butty?

Is that the same Betty's as in York? Yum!

Sorry, I've lost track, but when exactly is your birthday?

Yes, there are just 4 Betty's, Harrogate, York, Northallerton and Harlow Carr Gardens on the outskirts of Harrogate. We pop there for coffee occasionally too.

Birthday is on Sunday

Oh, yes, it's great there!
Our fabulous fifites group....the FABS for short goes there every December. (you have to be over 50 years old to be in the group)

Also, The Ritz Carlton near my house does a lovely "English High Tea" and it's less expensive than the Grand Flroidan.

Connie

Now that is the kind of over 50''s group I would like to go to!!:dance3:

A butty is a sandwich. Bacon sandwiches are lovely!! Mmmm. Chip butties are great too.(English chips that is. )

Oh my gosh, looks so yummy! Now I'm really hungry after seeing that food!

It is very nice Holly and service is wonderful.

You should start one! One of the women in the Hunter's Creek Women's Association thought they didn't do enough "fun" things in the afternoon, so she started a new group called the Hunter's Creek Fabulous Fifties.

The only rule is that you have to be over 50 years old. We pay $20 a year dues that goes for coffee and cookies. Volunteers plan all the activities........I planned an outing on the Riverboat Romance, on April 1 this year, we are going on a bus to the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Tampa....we are paying $20 to ride the bus and they are giving us a $10 coupon for lunch and $20 in tokens for the slot machines......Pretty good, huh?

Also we do dinners where we actually invite the FAB HUBBIS!
It's a lot of fun!

Connie

this afternoon is dragging and it's a ghost town in here. The controller called me in to his office to show me the boss button, he was watching the Miami game on csb sports and apparantly there is a boss button you can click on that changes the screen to show a financial graph so you won't get into trouble!!

my sister's birthday is today, they are getting a limo and going to City Walk and to Jimmy Buffets for dinner.

I am joining the cruise with my Dad, He has always wanted to see the Panama canal and this seemed like the perfect choice to do that. I can hardly wait!!

Is there a total of Disboarders who are going to be on the ship??

Welcome!!! I am sailing with DH and two dear daughters Samantha and Haley 5 and 3.

Not much longer now!!

Hey, check your Southwest flights again, our trip to MCO just went down another $10 per ticket, it had been holding steady the last month or so. Now I'm ready for a DING! to go even lower!

well I made it home early!! Yippee, let the weekend begin!
Glad you get to start your weekend early! :yay: Our office closed at noon and there was enough work piled up on my desk to last the whole day, and that attorney stayed to work more, so Monday should be pretty interesting. But I'd rather be busy because it makes the time fly by. :thumbsup2 Of course, it does cut into my DIS time though.

My dad & stepmom just left after a short visit. It took them THREE HOURS to get here when it only takes 1 1/2! I guess where they live the snow is worse and of course, when you're driving right as it's starting, the roads are worse. I told them to wait until tomorrow if it looked bad. When they weren't here at 1:30 when they'd planned on being here, I figured they'd just decided to wait until tomorrow. Now they have to drive all the way back...I hope it doesn't take them 3 hours again. That's too much driving for an hour visit. :sad2:
