I know I could look through some conversations and find the answer, but it's faster to just put this out for you guys to answer...

Going in two weeks, so questions are just popping into my head.

We're staying DL Hotel, so we get to use the Extra Magic Hour to get into DCA at 7:00 AM. Are MaxPasses available for the 7:00-8:00 AM hour, or for after 8:00 AM? I'm thinking my family will want to grab MaxPasses right off the bat for the new IncrediCoaster (I won't be riding), but we'll want to take advantage of early entry.

So I know everything is changed, but what would be the new plan for taking advantage of EMH? Last year we walked on to Soarin', then headed over to Toy Story Mania, and grabbed fastpasses for Guardians, followed by fastpasses for RSR. This year we'll have MaxPasses, so that changes things. We also have a lunch reservation for Cafe Orleans over in DL at 12:00. Trying to fit in the big fun stuff in the morning, wonder around DL for a while, then come back later in the day after a hotel break.

Your opinions are welcome!

Are people using EMH and getting IndiCoaster fastpasses finding they have a close to 8 AM return time so window opens up to get another pass right away, as opposed to waiting 90 minute period to get the next fastpass?

I thought fastpass returns begin at 8:30 am for all rides. You can get the fastpass beforehand of course, but I thought the earliest return time was 8:30 am for an 8 am regular park opening.

It's 8am if the park is open early (for EMH or MM); 8:30 if it isn't. The park that opens early has FP returns at park open; the park that doesn't starts 30 minutes later. At DL, I believe that only the rides open for MM start at park open, though (so Fantasyland/Tomorrowland).

This was true as of a couple of weeks ago; I tracked it for awhile to verify it.

Interesting. I obviously haven't been following all the changes. It was 8:40 am before the days of Maxpass. I noticed it was 8:30 after but hadn't picked up on the before 8:30 ones.

Been toying with staying offsite, paying for MaxPass, however do those Disneyland resort guests who can get in an hour early through EMH get an hours head start on booking via MaxPass too?

You will have a return time close to 8:00 on an EMH, and you can book another FP at that time. You are in no danger of IC FPs running out that early, though.

Yes, but the only ride that really matters for us RSR. Since no return times happen until after the park opens, it’s not a big difference... other than RSR.

With the introduction of SWGE, assuming the rides are available on MaxPass, is staying on site going to give a huge advantage here?

It depends what you mean by huge. Certainly those FPs will go first and presumably move faster than RSR is right now, so there will be an advantage to pulling them early. At the same time, they’re not going to run out of FPs for the day by the time EMH ends, so if you have multiple days, you should be able to pull each ride when you get in for rope drop on two different days. Or if you have a MM, that will also get you in early...

What’s a MM?

Magic Morning, gets you into DL an hour early one time if you have a 3-day or more ticket. Currently MM is only for Fantasyland and Tomorrowland on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, but many people think they'll revamp that somehow before SW opens.

Not to get off topic, but do MM for 3+ day tickets and EMH for resort guests run concurrently? Or are they offered at different parks or on different days? We'll be offsite, but will have 4 day park hopper tickets. Where do I find out when and where our MM is? Thanks!

As of now, Magic Morning (access to one MM comes with any 3-day or longer ticket purchase and is independent of where you are staying) is only at Disneyland and is offered Tues, Thurs and Sat morning.

Extra Magic Hour (available to all on site hotel guests regardless of ticket type) is offered based on the following schedule

DCA: M, W, F, Sun
DL: Tu, Th, Sat

So you'll notice that at DL, MM and EMH both provide the same early access on Tue, Thurs and Sat. The ONLY way to get early access to DCA is via EMH for on site guests.
