Maximizing time at AKL?

Hello all,

Planning a trip for three in June with a split stay in a 1 BR villa at Boardwalk followed by a 1BR villa at Kidani with a Savannah View.

Had a couple of questions on the kidani portion of the trip. We would like to really maximize our time at AKL and will be more park heavy during our time at BW. We will eat at Sanaa and Jiko but we’re considering doing one of the in house safaris, possibly with dinner included. Just curious if anyone has any recommendations on favorite things to do there that might be a cool experience to really enjoy the resort. Extra cost is fine but I don’t know what’s worthwhile and what isn’t.

In a related note, anyone have any specific room requests we should try to get? Two members of our party are huge giraffe fans and I’d like to try to ensure we have them outside our room while also not being too far from the lobby/bus stops.

Thanks I’ll advance.

I’ve done the Wanyama safari several times, most recently a month ago. It includes pre safari snacks, a drive through the 3 larger savannas at AKL and a shared multi course dinner with wine pairings at Jiko. It’s limited to 12 people and you have to be at least 8 years old (I think.) It costs around $200 per person. I’ve not Done the night time safari which costs less.
At Kidani there are 2 savannas your villa could overlook, Sunset or Pembe. You want Sunset which currently has 3 Giraffes, the youngest one is named Gigi (at least that was the situation in early December- they do move animals around.) The small Pembe savanna does not have giraffes on it.
