Max Occupancy at 4 - how do you book for 5?

The standard rooms at the value resorts have a maximum occupancy of 4.

I'm just curious, if you have three kids (or more), how do you make the reservation?

Do they make you book adjoining rooms, or do you lie and say there are only 2 kids, or do they let you make the reservation for 5?

They have some family suites at All Stars that sleep 6. I would never lie, if there is a fire or other evacuation emergency, they need to know who is in the room.

You book 2 roomss or get a room that holds 5. Unless they are under 3 than they can be in the room. There are a few of them.

If you were to lie and book a room with a max occupancy of 4, the person you didn't include on the reservation would not have access to the Magical Express or Extra Magic Hours. It's also a violation of fire codes to have more people in the room than allowed.

You options are:
1) Family Suites at ASMusic
2) Book 2 adjoining rooms
3) POR has some 5 person rooms. They include a trundle bed which is okay for smaller children, but can be uncomfortable for taller children.
4) Fort Wilderness cabins sleep 6
5) Many of the deluxes have rooms that accomodate 5

Regular rooms allow 4 people plus one child under 3.

Thanks for the info. We're a family of 4 (and we're done!), so we don't have to worry about it, but I was curious, because many families are larger than 4, and I was wondering how they do it at a value resort.

That's where we thought we were 2 years ago :cool2: Then we found out we were pregnant again :scared1:
Now, we wouldn't imagine our family complete w/o our just-turned-1 dd, but it *does* make a difference when traveling :rotfl2:

Awwww Congratuations!

We thought we were done after the first one - I had life threatening compications - but we got a surprise five years later! I know what you mean - I can't imagine our family without him. But we're permanently done now ;)

We are a family of 5 and stayed at a value (ASMovies) when the twins were 2 yrs. old. Now that they are 3 we needed to move up and we stayed at a Mod (POR) which was awesome but I missed the kids theme in the resort.

I heard they are building a new Value resort with family suites (like at ASMusic) and it will have fun Disney character theme but room for larger families. Although it was less expensive for us to stay at POR than a family suite at a value.

My older two were in elementary school and DH and I are like YES, we can go places and do things and everything we where "held back" from before. We were in parental bliss . . . . . then I found out I was pregant.

We go our first jogging stroller, which we refer to as the 4X4 stroller to chase the other two with and a backpack that fits both DH and I so we can do those family hikes.

DH is disappointed we all can't go out on the boat yet (I'm parinoid about that part still) :scared1:. DD(22mths) gets into everything and drives us nuts at time, she thinks she rules the roost!

But we wouldn't trade a day without her!! Since this is only our second trip, I'm not sure how we'll all do the sleeping arrangements, but I'm sure it will work out fine once we get there.

So basically if a child is under three, he or she doesn't count in the room occupancy?

OK, I just went to Disneyworld.com and searched for room prices at a value resort for two adults and three children (one of them an infant) and it did let me select a regular room at a value resort. Kinda answered my own question, I guess. I was confused!

when we went with our DD and twin DS they didnt count them in an AS until they were three so you can stay with two under the age of three (having a total of 5)

Right. But if you had another child, you wouldn't have been able to stay there. You can have 5 people if one of them is under 3, but you cannot have 6 people under any circumstances.

We have 3 kids and they're too young for us to rent two rooms, even if they're adjoining, so we rent DVC points. If you're lucky, it won't cost you that much more than a moderate and you'll have a lot more space and a full kitchen.
