Max child age in Universal hotels

We are doing a split stay between Disney and Universal and have already booked our Disney hotel and waiting patiently to see if AP rates come out - I can see rates coming out to beginning of June so far.

DD is classed as a child in our Disney hotel (up to and including 17) - when you book online this is clear but what isnt so clear is what constitutes a child in Universal hotels. She will have turned 17 when she goes and will be sharing our room (probably a 2 bed queen)

A child is anyone under 18.

Just had an experience with this situation, trust me tell them she is 15 on this trip and you will have 3 more years before they want to charge you $25 extra per night because she is an "adult".

When the window pops up that tells how much tickets are to add to my hotel, it only lists 3 adult tickets........I put in my 14-yr old son will be with us. What does this mean? Also, I've read about this $25 adult fee, but I'm guessing that's already figured into my hotel estimate?

In the Harry Potter package you are getting tickets as well. The ages for children in park tickets and hotel are totally different.

The 14 year old will be an adult at the park, but a child in the hotel.

Sadly, anyone 10 or older is an "adult" as far as tickets go.

So if I'm purchasing a package deal, I need a park ticket for him. But I don't want to pay another $25 adult fee in the hotel room. How do I separate that for a package deal? I don't want to be a park ticket short!! I only got to put adults/children in at the beginning of my search!

you pay the adult price for the ticket as he is over 10.
you do not pay any additional money for him at the hotel as he is under 18 and a child.

you are listing the ages of the 'children' when you book online.
it will automatically not consider him an adult then.
