Mattress pad. Am I crazy?

I bought one for our upcoming stay. We are staying in a sort of mini-suite at Dolphin and I will be sleeping on the pull out (my son and his SO will be in the bedroom with their little one). I bought a really thin one that self inflates and tried it out on our sofa bed here at home. It is by far the worse sofa bed ever invented, one of those with the metal rail in the middle of it where it folds out. The mattress made it slightly better to lie on so I consider it a win. We drive down but I got the one I got because it fits in a pretty small bag, I figure with 3 suitcases, a pack and play, stroller and all the little one stuff and a car seat, my poor little Rogue is going to be packed to the gills. It was a little more than I wanted to pay but I wanted that smaller footprint. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082YXHDP4?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details

Whatever happened to the DVC Trash / Recycling down the hallway ?
Now that I think about it , Have they been removed?

Just recently someone went on a big rant about how ugly it looked to have a community section of stuff in the hotels – which then descended into weird imagined scenarios about people leaving extra beer in laundry rooms and unattended children finding it and getting drunk on vacation.

Wow, talk about wasteful.

When we left Aulani, we had some things to leave behind (including some unopened food items), and we asked at the desk about possibly donating it to the homeless. We got a very nasty response along the lines of “we don’t know what you might’ve done to the stuff; we’re not foisting it off on the homeless.” 🤭

And I came back and posted how awesome it would be if any local DIS’ers might join up to collect things like that and donate them.Don’t think anyone grabbed onto that, but there are lots more WDW locals than Aulani ones, I’m sure. Throwing it out there as an idea. I’m sure most folks would rather donate than waste but, especially for the many who fly, just don’t have a way to make it happen.

I follow a few groups on Facebook and people are posting when they leave unopened food items in the laundry room. I think that has been a more common way to leave behind items for others than to just dump it in the hallway.

I spent 16 nights at Aulani and went to Walmart to get a foam mattress topper. If you can't sleep, then you will be miserable the whole time. So it is worth the few extra bucks for one.

There are several Facebook pages for DVC and for Aulani specifically where people post their stuff. Everyone leaves the items in the ice/vending rooms that are on every floor.

Usually when you request and get a mattress topper at a DVC resort for the sleeper sofa, it was purchased and left behind by another guest. They don't normally have those to offer.

Update: I bought one to take to the Dolphin as I was the one sleeping on the couch. Did not even unpack the mattress. The mattress on the sleeper was firm but I couldn't feel any of the wires or coils. I ended up sleeping almost as good (if not better since there was no snoring hubby or clinging dog) than I do at home. Usually I wake up in pain if I'm not on the mattress we have at home (a purple brand one) but not on the sleeper sofa. I was good to go every morning.
