Hey!

Just a couple questions about the Matterhorn.

1) How wet do you get?
2) Can you choose which track you want to go on?
3)whats the difference between the two tracks?

I am really excited to go on the Matterhorn, but I just want to know what to expect!

:yay:

1) You shouldn't get wet at all. The only time I know of someone getting wet on the ride was when the kid in front of them decided it would be a good idea to stick his hands in the water at the end to try and splash his friend. :sad2: But assuming you don't have kids like that in front of you, you won't get wet.

2) You can choose which track you want, there are lines that wind around both sides of the Matterhorn.

3) I can't really say. I can tell there's a difference, I definitely prefer the left side, but I couldn't tell you why. I would recommend trying both sides though.

It's an awesome ride, such a classic. :) It's a little bumpy though.

3. Some people think that the tomorrow land side is faster. Personally, I just think some of the turns are a little more sharp on that side, so the quick change of direction makes you feel like you're moving faster.

2) You can choose which track you want, there are lines that wind around both sides of the Matterhorn.

One quick correction, the past two times that I have gone, there has only been one line (on the Tomorrowland side of the mountain) which splits into the two lines for the two sides once your reach the overhang part, but yes, you still get to choose which side to ride.

1) How wet do you get?

If you're on the TL side, you'll get mist from the first waterfall. You'll get some drops of water on from both sides when you hit the last drop.

2) Can you choose which track you want to go on?

If both sides are open, then yes, you can pick a side. But if one side is closed, the TL side is always the one that's open.

3)whats the difference between the two tracks?

As Matterhorn Eric said, ppl say that the TL side is faster. I personally like this side better bc of the extra drop in the middle, I just think it's more fun. But the FL side usually has a shorter line and is somewhat more smoother.

If you don't mind a bit of a spoiler, you can view this video which shows split screen, side-by-side the differences between the two tracks:

Thanks for the link share, DangerMouse!

I dunno if it's just because the videos are out of sync or what have you, but the Tomorrowland side looks faster in that video, and it looks like you meet the Yeti sooner.

This ride is so crazy at night; last January was my first time on the ride in the dark and I was freakin out everytime the Yeti came out of the pitch black darkness! :scared1:

Ps Yayyy 300th post :cool1:

When I was little my dad and I would race over to the Matterhorn first because that was the best ride there. It didn't even have the yeti in it. However, now when I ride, it gives me a headache. It is so bumpy and jarring. I much prefer Space Mountain because that one is just smooth and fast. Of course my boys love the Matterhorn.

One time we rode it during the fireworks and I have to say that was very cool to come out of a tunnel and see the fireworks in the sky in front of you. :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 Thank you all for the great responses! Love the video DangerMouse! I am going to try both sides for sure!

Again, thanks for all your responses!

Watching this video reminds me of riding with my DD then 4. We had early entry into the park and we rode the Matterhorn right away. At that time, it was so early in the day, the first ride they didn't have the growling sound going yet at the spot where you load. So my DD rode without issue. Then later in the day we went back and loading was much slower and we had to wait in our 'car' longer before takeoff. She heard the growling and FREAKED :scared1: It was so bad that people in cars ahead and behind of us were yelling for the attendant to stop the ride. My daughter was trying to jump out of the moving car!!! We were able to get off before heading up the mountain.

funny thing now is that same daughter can't get enough thrills on roller coasters. As far as she's concerned the higher, twistier, animated the better!

1) How wet do you get?
You really don't, you may get misted but you won't get wet. Not even when you splash thru the water towards the end.

2) Can you choose which track you want to go on?
Only if both sides are open. On our trip last week both sides were open ONLY on the weekend, during the week only the TL side was open. They weren't even loading anyone on the FL side at all..... :(

3)whats the difference between the two tracks?
TL seems faster and more twisty to me, it's also over faster. FL is straighter and a little slower...or maybe the track is slightly longer. I'm not sure, I've seen the video that DM posted and it does show the FL side ending a bit after the TL side. We prefer the FL side so if it's open we always pick that side.

Matterhorn is always our 3rd (or 4th) ride during MM or one of the first rides on a non MM day.

We always do the Matterhorn 2fer....first one side then the other & rarely have experienced a line that early. It's a great way to start the day. :thumbsup2

I agree that the Tomorrowland side seems a little more zippy & the FL side a little smoother. Love them both though.

Does anyone else notice that track seems to get faster as the day goes on? First thing in the morning, the FL side is almost painfully slow. Later in the day, and especially at night I find it quite zippy.

Speaking of Matterhorn at night, are there any attractions that close early before the park closes?

Depends on the park hours really. But yes, normally Toon Town and the island are the ones that close early.
