I saw in my Unofficial Guide book that the height requirement is 35" same as the Gadget Go Coaster.:confused3Really???

I have a 3 year old that is 36 " tall and I was wondering if anyone has taken a child that young on the Matterhorn? I think he would like it really. Mabye I could test him out with the GGC first then go for the Matterhorn if he does ok with that one.

I took DD2 on it a few months ago. She barely made the height requirement. About half way through the ride she said "done", but later on throughout the day she kept pointing at the Matterhorn and saying she wanted to ride it again. She still talks about it now.

She actually did go on GGC first and she HATED it. She cried the entire time. I would imagine that because she was in between my legs and in my arms on the Matterhorn that that helped with her feeling secure. I also took her on the Fantasyland side which is much smoother IMO. I would not take her on the Tomorrowland side. :)

...About half way through the ride she said "done"....

I am in no way making fun of your daughter with this comment.

The non-parent in me just thinks this is just so cute and funny. There you are, speeding by the Yeti, strapped in to a very fast moving ride and the angel of your world says, "done."

"Uhhh..... kinda not possible sweetheart." :goodvibes

I love the thought process of kids. "Okay, I'm done now. We can stop." If only it were that easy. I would have LOVED to have been "done" half way through Tower of Terror. :sad2:

I thought that was a very cute comment from your daughter. Thanks for sharing.

When we went last October, ds was not even 2 yet. He measured RIGHT at 35". We were shocked when we approached Gadgets and they didnt even measure him or question it. There was also a little girl that appeared alot smaller than him and they didnt question that either.

However when we attempted to get in line at the Matterhorn, the CM was on the fence about letting him go. He said, "I dont know....maybe tomorrow". And they never let us ride.

I did not - but I wish I had. DS was 43 inches when we went but he was just 3.5 & I thought it would be too scary....but once the initial fear of Splash was over he LOVED it so it may have been the same w/ the Matterhorn...he loved BTMRR too. Lines were too long to try too.

Next time - it's on our list of must rides.

It was pretty cute when she said it. :) She also calls the Matterhorn "Firehorn", I have no idea why...but it's pretty funny.

That's weird. I mean, he's either hitting the measuring stick or he's not...there's really no question. Was he acting scared so the CM was going by that?

And yes OP, it's 35", though really, it's all about hitting the measuring stick. You can measure x inches at the doctor's office, but if you don't measure up to their sticks, you're not going on.

My DD was right at 3.5 years old during our trip this past fall and her favorite ride of all was..........the Matterhorn! Both sides, she didn't care. She still talks about it daily and the Yeti. I think we had to ride that more than anything else during our visit. Now my DD turned out to be quite the daredevil, and there wasn't a ride she didn't like, however Matterhorn was the absolute favorite. Now we did show our 2 kids the Matterhorn on you tube and so they knew what to expect and my DD3 couldn't wait to go see the Yeti for herself. We also made sure to remind her that the yeti was going to try to scare her and she had to scare him back. We thought she would be afraid of him, so we told her that we heard the Yeti was going to throw marshmallows at us, so when we were done we asked her if she saw any marshmallows because we didn't. She wanted to keep going on to see if he would really throw marshmallows at her!

That's hilarious. :lmao:

Harold the marshmallow-throwing Yetti. :thumbsup2

His head was pushing up against it, but he was also not even 2, so we had a bit of a time getting him to hold still, especially with all the distractions. Could very well have been from his reaction, who knows.

There was no "slipping a piece of paper" in between him and the measuring stick. ;)

I could care less either way, just gives me more reason to go back. :)

my 42" dd went on it. she didn't go on anything else that she'd have to measure for - oh wait, she did go on the rapids at california adventure. I think she liked the matterhorn well enough.

My daughter has riden it 1 time for each of our trips (at 3, 4, and 5 yo)... each time she has given it a go... and when it was done, was glad it was over... but she says the yeti is her friend--so each time we have to ride once to say hi! She doesn't like the bumpiness... it isn't the speed that bothers her.

you know my dd was scared of almost every single ride in fantasyland. they all have dark parts and I don't think she likes the dark! I'm not sure if she noticed the yeti but she wouldn't have liked it if she saw it!

Thanks for posting this. DS just turned 2 in February and was 35" at that appt. We are going to DL on Friday, so I'll just have to see if he's feeling it. He screamed, "All done! All done!" for the entire ride the first time he rode Dumbo in December, but loved Pirates & Haunted Mansion. :confused3

Not so cute at the time - I felt like the worst mother ever forcing my baby onto such an awful ride! :sad2: But he did beg to ride it again when we went back to MK later in the week and was fine.

Awwww... I know what you mean...it's hard to tell sometime what they will like. I am wondering if my DD will still like the rides when we go back with her in November. She will be almost 3 and I can see where different things are scaring her now that didn't used to.

I guess we'll just have to keep going back to see what they like each year. :goodvibes
