I overheard a few adults talking about how kids never learn now a days. Well, the braniacs do. So I'm starting this thread and I'm thinking of learning more. I'm lazy. All I do is watch TV and use the computer :happytv: :surfweb:. I don't even work! When I have time, I go shopping. I feel bad :guilty:. My Mum and Dad work so hard and I waste their money. I know some of you disagree with my point here. I'm just taking this word out. I'm not forcing you to do what you don't want to. Maybe learning isn't so bad? :confused3. Come on just try. Well I have a few question's on my Maths. I'm good at English but really bad at Math's and Science. When I mean bad, really bad. Will you guys help me?

Lovela :cutie:

lets put is as this. i hate math hate hate hate hate double double hate lol. i think that you only need additon, subtraction, multiplacation, and division.

Wow! Alright...yea, I think the other Math's stuff are dumb too! Why do they create them? We don't need them!

why wouldn't you try?

that's so dumb, IMHO.

school is important for the rest of your life. it not only helps you get into college, it helps you learn how to relate to people.

school is more important than shopping.

if you feel guilty about wasting your parents money while shopping, either a) stop shopping or b) get a job.

Its nothing to be proud of to hate school, and to not learn anything.

english and math are the most important classes you have.

I'm not too great in math or science, but I know enough to get by. Science is pretty pointless imo.

English is the easiest subject for me. I used to want to be an English teacher.

Of course I love shopping and clothes and all that, so I'm going to major in fashion in college.

I am horribe at Math, but I still try, and I managed to get a B- in it. My science class was very hard this year, and my grade dropped down to a B-. (THANKS TO MY WEIRD TEACHER.) Sometimes you can blame your teacher!!

Most of the time you can blame the teacher.

School is important and you need to actually try, but not everyone can do well in school. I would stop watching TV, or cut back on watching it. Record your favorite shows if you need to spend time on homework or studying. But who am I to talk? I suck at studying and schoolwork!

You better get working on math and science. Science might not seem important, but you can learn useful things. If you need any help, feel free to ask.

I don't know maybe I'm just stupid and just missing the point but what you tryna say Lovela?
You don't have to be a genius by doing extra work in your freetime, woah that's just boring, no offence!! Why not, when you are at school, just try and focus more! Ask questions so you make sure you understand the topic fully! And why not limit yourself to how much you spend watching TV and on the computer?
It sounds like you're saying we don't like learning...I think from seeing the posts above we do! Obviously we're not all geeks but we realise school is important and the only way to get good grades is to try your best, work hard and find a good balance between work and leisure!!
Hope that doesn't sound rude
:goodvibes

okay, wow. I completely disagree with you. I think our generation is one of the smartest, and whether you realize it or not, you learn everyday. And I also think that math and science are very important. math isn't just numbers and adding and subracting, it's logic, and the other stuff that you learn does make sense and has a purpose. i love math, the only thing I hate about math is trigonometry, but i know I have to learn it and that it does have a purpose. i am actually thinking about majoring in math in college.

I LOVE math. I think math can be used in everything. Yes I agree some of the stuff that we learn does seem kinda pointless but I'm the geek that finds it enjoyable. Now science on the other hand is a whole different story. For me that is one of the subjects that depend on the teacher whether or not I like it. This year was boring but others I've liked it so it just depends. English can be so so but it judt depends on what we are doing. I'm not very good at it though.

I agree with everybody else though. School is important and is worth the time. If I were you I would cut down the TV time and study more. And when you go shopping you could encorporate the math into it. It could help you some and wouldn't make u feel as bad i guess. But if you feel bad about going shopping and using your parents money you should get a job or stop going shopping at all.

The way I see it, it's all about what's important to you. I want to do well in school, so even though I could skip doing my homework and still pass the year fine I always do my work, similarly I could easily cheat off my friends homeworks and essays, but I blatently refuse to. I do pretty well in all my courses, but school is fairly easy for me, whenever I notice myself slipping I give myself a kick in the butt and get back down to buisiness.

english and maths are probably my best subjects.
i stink at science imho i can't get my head around it and it bores me to tears.
i love geography and history and this year it seems both of them have improved. i always try my best at everything(bar art i gave up on that in 3rd grade). you can't ask for more. and school is important.

you can pm me if you need help but a few warnings:

*i'm a 7th grader(Y8 to me)
* we seem to work on an entirely different curriculm.

I'm great at math, english and science if you need help, OP. PM me. I can probably explain whatever you need help with.

I love English, and Social Studies. We just got our report cards today. :) I'm in 7th grade, 8th grade in September.
~And yes, even though we learn them some things in math are kind of pointless. You have to admit.

:teacher: <-we need that though

I agree. A lot of things in math are pretty pointless, as well as in science, unless you're going to have a career involving them.

I guess it's good to learn them so you can discover if that's what you want to do.
