Oooh, somebody stop me! I so want to play matchmaker right now and it's killing me. :bitelip:

Here's the deal. DH and I went out with some of his coworkers this past Friday -- it just ended up being the two of us, a woman, and a man. While the woman was interested in the man, he isn't interested in her. WELL. I just LOVE this guy. He's smart and funny and interesting and intellectual (as opposed to smart :teeth: ) and kind and handsome. DH and I ended up having such a great time with him and we found ourselves wishing we could go out with this guy again (but not the woman... it's not that we didn't like her, but she's just not our type).

How awkward would it be for us to just ask him to go out with us sometime? I don't know, it's just weird.

But I have this friend. :teeth:

And this is where it gets sticky. This guy is just so great! And my friend is great too. I could see us as a foursome really having a blast together, but I really don't want to make this as a setup, because it would just be too awkward that way.

My DH and I have been longing for an adult group of friends with common interests to hang out with and do things with and this guy would be so great for that. How can I manufacture an outing for the four of us that won't be construed as a blind date?

no one ever sets me up with a date :confused3

You know, in this case I might take the "honesty is the best policy" approach. You really explained it so well that I could easily see what you meant about the fun you would have with these people. I think a simple, "We would all have fun together, and it's not a set-up, we just think we'll all have a blast together" might be just the thing. If they have a connection, you'll be out of the picture anyway!!! And if they don't, you won't have set up the expectation that you are seeing them as a couple.

Good luck!!!

I ended up marrying a "it's not a date, we're just getting together" guy. I think it's a great, non-threatening way to meet people socially!

She should be decent-looking,but we'll trade looks for...

a certain kind of morally casual attitude.

If you want some practice...get my friend-crush to call me back again and ask me out :teeth:

I'd PAY for someone to give me a hand with him...
