Hi there!

I am planning a trip to WDW in January for 10 people (including me!) and we want to have at least 1 day of matching shirts.

Can anyone suggest an economical way to purchase shirts? I have peeked at the Disigns thread but am so overwhelmed... Seems like many of the disigners aren't doing shirts anymore and many of the links don't work so I'm lost!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

On our last trip my sister and I made Mickey tie dyes for our group of 7 and it was really fun and cute, but time consuming. If you don't want to put in that effort, or you're not so into craft projects I recommend iron ons. You can get inexpensive t shirts at target or online and then either buy iron on transfers or you can by iron on "paper" which you can put in a home printer and use to print out your own designs.

Another cute option that I've seen here on the boards is to do a faux tie dye using bright colored shirts and bleach. You can trace out silhouettes of Mickey or other characters with a bleach gel pen and then some people have used spray bottles with bleach diluted with water to make droplet designs or other decorative effects.

Good luck.

It's a little time consuming, but my sister and I just made these for our trip.

I found a large Mickey Mouse silhouette and made it for 2 adults. We used a different fabric- black with white polka dots. If there are men, you could use a different fabric and leave off the bow.

I have a sewing machine, but I can barely sew a straight line, but I was able to follow the instructions and outlined the silhouette in hot pink thread. I think they came out cute.

I made something like that for my daughter our first year we went to Disney World. Took some time but it worked out great. She is still wearing those shirts to this day. :)

I am in the process of making shirts for our family. I did spend a lot of time going through the Disigns that are out there in order to find plain disigns - no names, etc. I found a cute zebra print for the girls going and a steelers Mickey Head helmet for my son. I made them the other night and they turned out awesome!!!

The shirts were so much easier to do than I expected!

Shirts I found on sale at Walmart and Target. The transfer paper was $40 for 20 sheets, but the results were well worth the cost!

Next I am on to do the Mickey Head tie dye. My order from Dharma Trading company came in yesterday so I will start working on those soon.

Totally another question? Does anyone know where I can get a tag of some kind for a ECV? Looking for a "license plate" and possibly a bag? Thanks so much for letting me go "off topic". Ruth

For super simple T-shirts check out my thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2390932

I have an instruction sheet that I send out now & again - send me a PM with your email address & I'll send it right out.

These are very quick & easy. Just avoid very intense orange and deep purple shirts- for some reason, the bleach doesn't work on these.

Check the disney store or check ebay. You can also check ebay and buy patches and have them shown on a t-shirt.Can you also go to Disney down town market place and go to design a t-shirt store

I love the swirly mickey ears design stated above... that looks like your cheapest and easiest bet... also cute!

Another thought... since we all already had team shirts, we always do 1 day with all of us wearing our local college team tshirts, as well as our local NFL team, although they don't match exactly, we are 'themed' the same, and we always get a few "Go Tigers" or "Go Saints" comments. Even non-fans of our teams would talk football with us, lol.

Thanks for all the suggestions!! If anyone has more ideas, please share them! I'd love to score a whole weeks worth of ideas!

I made matching shirts for our trip last October. I have a Cricut & the Mickey font cartridge. I cut out a Mickey head with the person's name underneath it. I used freezer paper & was able to temporarily iron this on to the shirt to use as a stencil. For the girls, I used black glittery paint & for the guys it was just solid black fabric paint. Even if you don't have a Cricut, you could cut out your design freehand on the freezer paper & use it as a stencil. It was a lot of fun!

You can also do the swirl on a white shirt.

Create a mixture of flour and water to about the consistancy of mustard. Place in a squeek bottle. Squeeze on swirl design. Let harded to rock hard (over night if needed or place in sun) Buy spray fabric paint. Spray over swirl. Let dry. Peel off flour/water mixture. Let set for a day then wash. Put paper inside of shirt to keep from paint from bleeding under. If you google mickey tye dye it will show you how. There is also a way to tye dye with sharpies (google sharpie tye dye)

For blank shirts try jiffyshirts.com

We have lots of matching outfits. Some purchased others made.

For our next trip I plan on using heat press vinyl and my Cricut cartridge.
