Matching shirts and/ or outfits?!?!

I cannot be the only one who actually likes this. I know it is a little bit dorky, but when we travel, it is our time to have fun and putting together various outfits is one thing DD and I enjoy planning. Anyone else?

As I was cleaning yesterday and putting away Christmas decorations, I found ANOTHER set of matching clothes that I got on super-cheap-clearance from Disneyshopping. I think it's the Mickey postcards pattern. I thought DH was going to fall over when he realized there was another set of matching clothes.

I think when DD and I do BBB will be the only day that we don't do matching stuff - she'll be in her princess gear and I am going to wear a skirt that DH bought me.

The Disney Store at our mall has the cutest pink t-shirt type shirts that are the same for little girls and women. I was thinking about getting them for DD and I, so cute. They are kind of Valentine's related, but are cute for anytime.

I always dress my boys alike, but I rarely dress to match. My DH isn't a good sport about that kind of stuff and would totally think I was nuts. LOL!!! If he would go for it, I would have all of us matching outfits for disney!

When my boys were little we always had matching shirts every day at WDW. The reason behind this was so that if they got lost they wouldn't have to think about what we looked like (if a cast member asked them). They could say "my mom and dad are wearing this". They never did get lost but I think it helped in a crowded area to look for a certain style of shirt. :hippie:

We always wear matching outfits (shirts & shorts/pants) each day of our WDW trips, and we go for 8-10 days. I think it makes the pictures look so much better.

For our Christmas trip that we just returned from last week, we had several sets of matching Mickey/Minnie holiday sweaters, long sleeved tees, & even matching Mickey fleece jackets.

The kids would never agree to this anywhere in the world but WDW!

We do our best to always the entire family have some sort of matching outfits..

We find it easier to remember what everyone else is wearing as well as how awesome our pictures are!

Sometimes it is color oriented, sometimes it is identical, sometimes it is same sorta shirt, just the family member's favorite character on it..

So your not alone!

When we go to disney I have two shirts planned for us to wear as a family. I went to the design board and someone there made me two awesome designs to iron on. :)

I dress my girls in matching shirts every day. I will wear a matching color if I have it - once, a CM made some snarky remark about our matchy-matchy pink shirts. Jerk.

Now, DH ... he is a twin and CAN'T stand matching outfits due to some childhood trauma of being dressed alike :confused3 (his comment regarding twins dressed alike, "Are they one person? No! They are two people and should be dressed like two people!") So, he is not onboard with the plan and his shirts generally don't match us. And he only "allows" me to dress the girls alike because there is NO WAY anyone could confuse them for twins.

On our September trip for the first time I had a "color of the day" and I also made tie-dye shirts for our group of 5 (parents, DH, DD and me). I never thought of doing it before but now I am a convert. It makes it simple to find each other, not only if one gets lost but also when we separate to get FPs, food or do shopping. (We still take a morning picture before leaving the resort, too). And when we got our photos back, it looked so cool to have our clothes coordinating and not distracting from the rest of the picture.

I realized I had converted my DH when he told me the tie-dye shirts were a good idea because it was easy to keep track of us. Our bright blue and purple tie dyes allowed us to find each other nearly anywhere in a crowd. In fact on the last night, my DH went to MK early and I was supposed to catch up with him later. When I called his cell phone, something happened and it went directly to voice mail each time (7+ calls). Now what?!?!?

So I just started walking down Main Street and looked up toward the castle and voila, there was my DH in his tie-dye shirt in the middle of the crowd around the Mickey and Walt statue. I would have walked right on by if not for the shirt!

So that shirt saved our marriage! :thumbsup2 :lmao: :goodvibes

I try to match the girls everyday of the trip and on some days we all match....its vacation I could never get away with that at home!! I love to see our matching family photos, priceless:goodvibes

We started dressing to match a few trips ago and I love it. I'm trying to decide if I should whip up some different tie-dyed shirts for this trip so we don't have to wear the same ones from the last trip! I think dressing to match in real life is kind of dorky, but at Disney, I love it!

Instead of a rainbow tie-dye shirt, you could try what we did -- the crystal method. It has the same feel as tie-dye but instead of twisting the shirt, you just bunch it up and then sprinkle the dye. It's supposed to look like water or granite stone or crystals, depending on what colors you pick.

I can provide link to instructions. Here is how ours turned out (this was my first time dying shirts):

I swore I would never do the matching outfits, how corny!

I lied.

I started with the Disney shopping and bought us all an island print type outfit for family pics. DH thought I was nuts. He said he would not be caught dead walking around with us all dressed alike. However, he went for pics with it. The kids and I wear ours occassionally and DD and DS wore theirs together quite a bit. With the budget boards help, I saved a ton of money. I was able to buy DD's dress, DS and DH's shirts and my tank and skirt all for what DH's shirt cost not on sale.

I buy DS and DD a lot of matching stuff and they like it. I think DD7 is now starting to grow out of it but last year they were Minnie and Mickey for Halloween. I loved that! I buy them coordinating holiday outfits each year for pics.

This year, DH actually asked me what matching outfits I was getting for us! I almost feel off my chair! I ended up more coordinating than matching this year but the boys had matching Gymboree sweaters. DH and DS have worn them 2 other times together. DD had a dress with the same color band from Gymboree. I got a blouse from Kohl's with the same colors so not matching but very similar.

I'm a convert. I love seeing the kids match. And I know secretly DH likes to see his "mini me" dressed just like him.

Our family also does matching shirts for Disney as well as our local amusement park. My DD is a "Drifty" who is either 20 feet ahead or behind the rest of the group. Tiedye shirts are definitely far more visible than solid color shirts. For our Disney trip last year, I ordered tiedye shirts from tiedyeusa, then ironed on my own transfers. We got LOTS of comments on our shirts, and the kids liked the ones we made better than any of the shirts we found on site. Not bad for $7.50 per shirt! :cool1:

Yes, it's dorky. We wouldn't do it anywhere other than theme parks! However, even the kids liked it. Not only did the matching shirts make it easier for us to find them, it made it easier for THEM to find US. And yes, the pictures looked really good too. :lovestruc

We try to coordinate by colors. It just makes the pictures look that much better. :) It happened by accident one year and the picture of my 2 boys at AK was so great I decided we always needed to match or at least wear something coordinating.

Sorry if this is a duplicate - my other post disappeared! I totally agree about the pictures!! I always either color coordinate or match all of us. Doesn't take that much time or effort. My inlaws make fun of me (they think I have too much time on my hands). What can I say? I love  the look of the photos - and they last a lifetime. Some of my inlaws photos give me a headache (but that might not be just the clothing) :rotfl:

I sew matching shirts / dresses for us. I find Disney themed material (usually at Wal-Mart) and make DH and DS shirts and me a simple dress.

We get more compliments w/ the matching outfits. One man asked DH where he bought his shirt b/c he wanted one. DH explained that I made them. The man argued w/ DH and told him he just saw someone else w/ the same thing on. DH explained to him that yes, I was his wife and I had made the outfits.

I love it when people ask where did you get them, and when you try to explain you made them, they just don't get it!!
