Just got back from a holiday in Calgary and was surprised to find out that the Disney Store didn't take Mastercard!! Will I run into the same problem in Disney World? I hoped to put most things on my credit card.
We use Mastercard. We paid for the whole package with Mastercard (miles) and we've given them the Mastercard for the KTTW charging privileges.
I don't think Disney Stores are actually owned by Disney (I could be wrong) so they would have their own practices.
I've never had an issue to pay by MC at the Disney Store and when I worked at the Disney Store we accepted MC -- I wonder if you had a new CM or misunderstood and there was an issue with MC that day? Had a lazy CM who didn't want to call in or use the old method or they had no swipes to use the old method if there was an issue with MC.
Disney was sold off but from my understanding in speaking to the manager at my old location Disney has regained control. I was told we should see stores with much more of a Disney feel once more.
Prior to selling the stores, Disney accepted Mastercard, but when they re-acquired the stores, it would appear that Mastercard wasn't interested in offering their services to the Disney Stores. So paying for your 'stuff' with a Mastercard hasn't been an option.

When did you last shop at the Disney Store? When Disney re-acquired the Disney Stores they at first didn't take anything but cash. They finally got debit and Visa but don't have Mastercard and as I understand it won't get Mastercard for some time if ever. You couldn't have used your Mastercard at the Disney Store since Disney repurchased them.

Just for clarity - it wouldn't be that MC didn't want to accept the business, it would be that the Disney Store likely did not want to pay whatever fees MC was going to charge them. MC makes money from merchants therefore they always welcome additional business. The merchant pays a % of each transaction to enable them to accept MC so likely the store did not want to pay that %. Although I am sure I have paid for stuff in ON at the Disney Store with my MC so perhaps it is a franchise type thing??
It is actually that MC won't except the business. I've heard that the Children's Place owes a bunch of $$$ to MC and until that debt is cleared MC won't authorize the DS to use MC.
All of the open DS are now owned by Disney so it is not a franchise thing.

How on earth does Children's Place owe Master Card a huge amount of money? Someone must have really dropped the ball if they allowed a corporate credit card account to be that large. MC would owe Children's Place for all of the charges that go through Master Cards in the retail stores and for a corporate charge account to exceed that would be surprising to say the least.
Disney Stores do not accept Mastercard since they were taken back by Disney.... we bought our park passes at Limeridge mall in Hamilton in April and were told then that they do not accept Mastercard at any location.... visa/debit/cash only......
