I want to "buy" a massage for my wife's birthday during our stay this September 15-19....

1. Whould you suggest an early morning, start the day? or end of the day to get relaxed for sleep massage? Park hrs are 9-6 so we have time before and after....

2. I looked at the Mandarin Spa brochure... I can't make heads or tails out of it.... Which Massage is a basic good all over type of massage... not too expensive, not too long (<1hr).. i have no idea what they are talking about in that brochure! (and I don't want some strange guy touching my wife's butt)

Any help would be appreciated!!!!

Why don't you invest in an electronic massager - they are about the same price as a good hairdryer - the massager has different heads - one is a sponge, one is smooth and flat another has bumps - ideal for different areas of the body. I'm sure your wife would much prefer you to do the massaging along with a glass of champagne and strawberries with whipped cream!;)

How about ?

Well Being Back Massage - a 30 minute massage focusing purely on the back and shoulder area to relieve tension and aching muscles ($60 value)

When?

If shes a morning person I'd say then. But if she doesn't wake up until its over its money down the drain.

I don't think they will rub her the wrong way...

A morning massage is good. It relaxes you, yes, but once you get going with the rest of your day, it makes you feel energized and in a good mood. That is a good idea and I think I will follow that suggestion while we are down there, too.

What a sexy post! I don't think you would have to worry about any guy touching your wife's private parts if it is a respectable spa. Giving a gift of a massage or facial is a lovely gift to give to a woman. DON'T buy her an electric massager unless she specifically requests one. I just laugh thinking about it.

Maybe my wife can get a massage from Orlando Bloom and I could get one from Keira Knightly. Wait, never mind, we would have to get those at Disney.

Mmmmmm.......just thinking...it would be nice to have a sauna and massage. Has anyone had one at the Royal Pacific Resort?

Nick - what a wonderful 'present' - my girlfriend treated me to a massage at Mandara for my birthday. I had the balinese massage "a traditional balinese massage using a combination of streching, accupressure and swedish massage techniques" 50 mins was $90 (she tipped 20%). It was wonderful and given by a very nice young man who was 'appropriate' in every way! My girlfriend had one of the hour facials and loved her treatment, too. I love to have a massage at the end of the day to relax me and ease my aching leg muscles from all the walking in the parks- if you get there a bit early, there is a sauna in the waiting room that you can use while you wait - the dry heat helps to relax you and warms up your muscles before the massage. My vote is for an evening massage - you can be relaxing back in the room, dipping some strawberries in chocolate and chilling the champagne . . . sorry . . getting carried away, selena's post must have infiltrated my brain ! . . . obviously I need to book my own romantic trip if DH ever gets back from working overseas;) !

My wife also had a massage at the Spa and she daid it was wonderful hinting that when we return in january she quite fancies another one if u have an AP u get 20 % discount also when we where there in march the Spa on slow days sent the masseur to the RPR pool area and she did a massage for a $ a minute which was pretty good value:jester:

Wow......hope one comes round when I'm there.....a dollar a minute..so for a lovely 10 minute session..10 dollars then a cool dip in the pool followed by RPR special cocktail..sounds like heaven!

AP holders get 20% off? I did not know that, I WILL remember that, though.

Massage therapists are professional & are often versed in some of the techniques that physical therapists use. That being said, you may feel more comfortable calling the spa ahead of time to see whether a female therapist is available if that makes you more comfortable. My DH prefers that I go to a female therapist now even though I had massages w/ both male & female therapist when I was single.

If you are planning to go to the parks, I too would suggest the evening (or perhaps late afternoon) time. Unless you were just going to do a casual, laid back pool day, it might defeat the purpose of the massage to be running around the parks afterward (the massage therapist would probably tell you the same; they always usually suggest to relax after the massage).

How about returning from the parks at 5 pm, with a massage scheduled for 6pm, then have the restaurant where you're staying deliver a room service meal at 7 or 7:30, eat, relax, watch a movie, or whatever.

Hope she enjoys - I'm certain she will be thankful for her thoughtful husband!

Sorry for the grammatical errors fellow readers! I usually do a better job of proofreading my posts ("always, usually...")!

Thanks for all the info, ...

I'm opting for the "end of the day" massage...

Anyone know wher to get the spa hours for Sept. ???
