I read on a different forum today that masks are no longer required for indoor photos. Does anyone know for sure? I cancelled my photo package but if they are not required now I may pay for it.

Thanks!!!
Kristi

At least as of yesterday, masks were required for indoor photos on the Dream. Masks were not in the dining rooms during dinner, though, or outside.

Walt Disney World announced today that, as of February 17th, masks would no longer be required for the vaccinated in- or out-doors. The Cruise Line, however, is a whole different kettle of fish! :fish::fish::fish: I imagine that the requirements on the Cruise Line will remain on the cautious side for a while yet....though I really hope I'm wrong because we sail in April!!

If Disney opts to stay in the CDC's new program, then the mask requirements will actually be more strict than they currently are. Keeping masks off for the duration of a meal will be against the CDC's policy. :(

We were on Fantasy Feb 5-12. Masks required indoors for all photos. Not only that, but as we were all sitting at dinner (masks off because we were eating/drinking) a photographer asked if we wanted a photo then informed us we'd have to put on masks at the table before the photo would be taken. We declined.

I got it from the unofficial DCL blog, here: https://disneycruiselineblog.com/2022/02/cdc-reveal-new-covid-19-program-for-cruise-ships

This is the part that I was referring to:

While the Order permits temporarily removing a mask for brief periods of time while eating or drinking, removal of the mask for extended meal service or beverage consumption would constitute a violation of this Order.

Apparently, this comes from the federal government's mask requirements for all public transportation. The CDC is just clarifying it for cruise ships.

Thanks - happy to blame Scott! I think he's referring to the current order which in theory isn't changing (meaning we shouldn't have our masks off while eating the entire time right now either)...but not clear to me.

When did that change? We were on Dream over Thanksgiving and while you had to have the masks on for the 'chatting' part of the character meet and greets, you could take them off for the pictures. Every night at the atrium they had a small table for you to place your masks when it was your turn to get your picture, and the photographer wiped it down between families. For each dinner we had maskless photos.

It also says:

At this time, all persons, including port personnel, crew, and passengers are advised that CDC’s Mask Order remains in effect and requires the wearing of well-fitting masks on conveyances entering, traveling within, or leaving the United States, and in U.S. transportation hubs.

I take that to mean, since once onboard you are "out of the US" you can remove your mask to eat (for the whole meal) while at your table. But any other activity, while indoors, you must wear a mask.

I just saw this on the "Know before you go"

Face Coverings
All Guests (ages 2 and up, including those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19) are required to wear appropriate face coverings indoors, except when in their staterooms or actively eating, drinking or taking a photo (while stationary and maintaining an appropriate physical distance). Face coverings are not required for Guests outdoors while on board the ship and at designated locations. Face coverings may be required in ports of call based on local government requirements.

Maybe that's just when you're taking your own photos? As opposed to the photographers or a CM taking your photo?

I don't see that wording...?

I see this on "Know Before You Go" and also "On the Ship."

It was near the end of this page:

Just before "Exiting the ship".

I wondered about that, too. Maybe that's only on debarkation day? No professional photos to be had, as they'd all be done by then?

I had the mask on pre-board photo. I normally feel so excited when I have Disney photos taken. I remember it being very weird for me, I had this strong annoyed feeling taking off my purse and lanyards trying to straighten our clothing out and seeing my family with a mask on. I feel awful that I found anything with Disney annoying. It’s like hating your child. I couldn’t even bring myself to look at the photos online/kiosk. I pre-paid for the photos biggest package they have like I always do. A few days into the cruise a CM told me I would be refunded my package after I told her I purchased it. I hadn’t even asked for a refund yet. And she did refund it. A few days later I heard her telling someone they were going to start outdoor photos that night without masks.

I would be with you , masks on for photos is just depressing. We have skipped the indoor character meet and greats because of them at the parks.
