Sounds like you are off to a good start. Amazing how we can suddenly look at older family members and get motivated! I love your dolphin pic - is that you? DD and I did DC last summer and are going back. I can't wait!

Julie...yep that's me with Rainier. My husband and I did Dolphins in Depth last June...oh my gosh it was so awesome!!!

I wanted to come in and update this last night, but my huusband was on the comp all night long doing a paper. Leave it to Mr. Procrastination to keep me off my journal!! :rotfl: So today I'll be updating from yesterday and what's been going on today so far.

My goal was to do about 12,000 steps a day with yesterday being my first day...and I did it!! My total step count for yesterday was 12,440...with a total distancee of 5.89 miles. I did about 80 of walking yesterday which contributed to the majority of it. I also did about 20 minutes of arm toning.
I think I stopped at breakfast yesterday with my update. After breakfast snack was a plain rice cake with a slice of cheese; lunch was a turkey breast wrap and an orange; after lunch snack was 7 crackers and string cheese; dinner was creamy chicken & pasta with carrots, celery, & peas (1 cup) and a cup of apple juice; and instead of an after dinner snack, I had 1 small brownie and a cup of milk.

Today I've been on my feet a lot..mainly contributing to my job. My job let me out an hour early, but Wes couldn't pick me up until later (normally he would have picked me up half an hour after I got off work, but leaving early bumped it into an hour and a half). This gave me lots of time to walk around the mall. I'm already almost done with my goal for steps for today and its only a little after 5pm here! So that goal is gonna be exceeded. Woohoo!!! :Pinkbounc I still have to work out, and will do so when Wes leaves for class in about 40 minutes. Not quite sure what I'll be doing right now.

Breakfast this morning was a plain rice cake and a slice of cheese; snack was a cup of milk; lunch was a turkey breast wrap and string cheese and a cup of water; and I need to go grab my snack now. Count me in for 6 crackers and a slicee of cheese. Dinner will most like be leftovers from last night since we have plenty.

So that's me for now...hopefully I'll be able to update tonight before I go to bed, but if not, I'll be here tomorrow!! :sunny:

Good morning everyone!!

Plans changed last night as far as food goes. I didn't have a "before dinner" snack since Wes' class was only an hour and he wanted to go out to eat. I can't eat a snack that close to a meal, so I just decided to drop the snack. We went out to Fazoli's. I got their "smart choice" or whatever it's called...their spaghetti and garden salad. They gave a lot of spaghetti (maybe 2-3 cups) so I had about half of it. I had light ranch dressing with my salad and light lemonade. I also skipped my after dinner snack because I was just so full. My workout included power walking, arm toning, and 60 crunches. My total steps for yesterday is 12,401...with a distance of 5.87 miles.

I'm in a very good mood right now....I got on the scale this morning to see that I lost 2 pounds!!! YAY!!!!!! I don't do a weekly weigh in, I weigh myself every couple of days or so. I've found that I'm more motivated to stay on track when I weigh myself more often. Frequently seeing that number on the scale has helped keep things in focus for me.

Breakfast this morning was a slice of whole wheat bread with 1 T of peanut butter, and a cup of orange juice. My workout today increases by 3 minutes.

My plan for the rest of the meals is as follows:
snack: jello
lunch: turkey breast wrap w/ half an orange
snack: half an orange
dinner: creamy chicken & pasta (1 cup)
snack: 6 crackers & slice of cheese

Sounds like you had a really good day yesterday. Your meals look really good for today too.

I totally agree with you about the weighing more often thing. I tried to keep myself to Weds and Sat for a while, but I just couldn't do it. Seeing my weight every morning really helps me focus and stay engaged.

Yesterday was a great workout day for me. My workout time increased by 3 minutes (a total of 20 minutes). I did 10 minutes of jogging, 20 butt lifts, 20 leg lifts, 20 lunges, and 60 crunches. Later in the evening I went power walking for 30 minutes. I felt really good by the time I got to bed...I think it was more mental than anything else. I find I'm falling asleep a lot faster than normal. Usually it takes me about 1-2 hours to fall asleep at night, but ever since I started eating better and working out, I've been asleep within 10-15 minutes. I can't say enough what a great thing that has been for me. I've been waking up a LOT more refreshed. My total steps for yesterday was 12,015 with a distance of 5.69 miles. Not as many steps as I would have like, but I'm still happy to have exceeded my goal, even if it was just by 15 steps. 15 is better than not meeting it at all!!!

Wes has two papers he has to work on today which gives me plenty of time to really beat my goal. My exercize plan says it's a rest day so while I won't be doing any actual workouts, I will still go walking. Need to get these legs in shape!

Breakfast today was a cup of orange juice and an oatmeal raisin granola bar. I have no idea what I'll be eating for the rest of today as my brain is kinda cloudy right now. :teeth: But I'll keep track of it so I can report it later on.
