I'm not sure where to post this but...

Has anyone gone to the 7:30am Sunday Mass at The Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine? We usually go to the 9:30. I'm wondering about the length of the Mass. At 9:30, the Pastor usually talks for 10 or 15 minutes before starting Mass allowing extra time for "visitors" to arrive. Does the same thing happen at 7:30? Since Sunday will be our first full day at WDW, we want to make the most of it.

We have never been to the 7:30 am mass. Sorry I can't help you but you helped me because we are planning to attend the 9:30 am for our trip in Sept. Does the pastor's "little talk" end up making the mass end much later than 10:30?? We usually hit the evening mass at 6 p.m. on Sunday after a day at AK or the waterpark.

We usually get out of 9:30am mass right before 11am. That's why I was trying to figure out if the 7:30 would get us out at 9am. The 9:30 is packed so I was wondering if that made a difference. Unfortunately, Saturday night would not be an option for us.

I'd like to know about the 6 p.m. Saturday Mass's length. My DH and I have reservations at Boma at 8:20 but would really like to check into our hotel after Mass and before dinner.

Also, is casual dress going to be OK?

WE never been to the Saturday night Mass so I can't speak about that but I can tell you that most people were dressed casually on Sunday at 9:30am. I usually wear a polo shirt and shorts and I fit right in.

We have never been to the Saturday evening mass. We have been to the 6 p.m. Sunday. Don't know if there is much difference. As I recall, mass was ended pretty close to 7p.m. We spent about 1/2 hour in the rosary garden and hopped in the car to GF for our 8:05 pm reservation for dinner.

We have always gone casual.

Wow, good to know. I didn't consider the crowds or extra time. Sun. eve mass is only about 1/2 -3/4 full, and never over an hour. (not that I am an expert, we have only been 4-5 times at that time)

Now you have me wondering about the 7:30 am mass.

We are hoping to go to the 7:30am when we are there in Oct. and then head right to Typhoon Lagoon.

I have been to the 7:30am Mass many times when I used to be a castmember, for it was the only Mass I could attend on my way to work on Sundays. It is a little less crowded, usually lets out around 8:45, and has mostly a casual tourist crowd. I do not like it when people dress disrespectfully for Mass, but it is perfectly acceptable to dress down at MQUS since its apostolate is to minister to the tourists while on vacation. I even wore my costumes when the policy changed to let us take our costumes home, and I have recently found it common to see many castmembers in costume at the Sunday morning Masses.

I also want to highly recommend going to confession while at MQUS. The priests are nice, you will never see them again (unless you live in the area), and they hear so many that they make it quick.

Thanks VonBaroketch. That's the information I was looking for. Does 7:30am Mass start right at 7:30 or does the priest/pastor give a few extra minutes for the tourists to arrive?

It depends on who the priest is. Usually, he gives the welcome message about the history of the shrine (and a plea for donations) at some point, but whether he does it at the beginning, before the homily, or before the dismissal is a matter of choice by the priest.
