We will be vacationing in Europe and GB during May & June 2005. We want to take in a London Musical on Thursday June, 2, 2005, mat. performance.
What would you recommend for two 55+ Disney fanatics from the States, (New Jersey), and what site would you recommend to purchase tickets for a Thursday afternoon performance.
We will be staying out at the Renaissance Hotel Gatwick Airport after our cruise and before we go back to the States.

Have you tried Ticketmaster?? Verity went to see Mary Poppins not so long ago. Here is her Review :)

If you go to www.marypoppinsthemusical.co.uk and follow the links there..

You should have no problems getting Mary Poppins tickets if you get them soon.

In an ideal world I would sit towards the front of the dress circle for this show.. preferably centrally or on the Right hand side as you look at the stage.

Its a great show. Not much like the original film.. so dont go expecting that.. but its a wonderful show and great for you to see it long before it comes out in the USA (if indeed it will!)

The show also matinees on a Thursday, so youre in luck!

Ive seen the show twice.. and it is magical.. not my favorite disney show, but its wonderful all the same. if you have any questions please ask away.. Im a theatre nut!

I went to website and bought 2 tickets for June 2 matinee. I didn't have a good choice of seats. There were no seats center or right of stage. I got P31-32 which is way left. Hope I didn't make a mistake, but I really wanted to see this production.

Thanks for your suggestions. We are staying at the Renaissance Gatwick that evening, and flying home to USA NJ on June 3rd.

Sorry I didn't see this till now. This production is nearly always sold out as it is still quite new to the West end, so I'm not surprised it was busy. we sat to the left hand side and the view was fine.

I'm sure you will love it!!! If you have any more questions please pm me. Verity.xxx

Thanks everyone for helping. I am happy. Now I have to find out what trains, and what station is near the theater. I will be coming from Gatwick Airport.

To be honest.. the sight lines at the Prince Edward are all pretty good. And we were sitting on the end of a row in the stalls and still had a great view.

You will be just fine. I think personally you will get a better view from the dress circle than the stalls (ive seen it twice from the stalls!) - the only reason I suggest that is that when Mary flys over the audience you will see her for longer than when you are in the stalls.

Otherwise your seats will be just fine. Great perspective from there.. nothing to worry about!

Enjoy the show!

We ordered our tickets online. $192.32 USD for two tickets. GBP $100.50. The conversion rate killed us but we are just so happy to get tickets for a matinee..

Glad you got them :cool1:

Hope you enjoy it, let us know!!! :flower:

We are back from our worldwind tour of England, Ireland, Scotland and Disneyland Paris.
We loved "Mary Poppins, The Musical".
It was a delightful show, and since I am "old", I knew all the lyrics to the original songs.
I did see Mary fly, twice.
One difference in the audiences between NY and Lon. In NYC at the end, there would be a standing ovation, and the audience would be hooting and hollering. You would probably hear the audience singing along too.
At the London performance, a matinee, there was no standing ovation, and no audience participation.
We loved it.

That sounds great Michele, thank you for letting us know how it went :)

I am really keen to see this show!
