My husband is taking my 5 year old son to IOA in September, they've never been. Both are big Marvel fans. What can they expect from characters/rides at this park? How much time will it take to see everything? Broad question, I know. Just looking for some insight... :cutie:

They shouldn't have any problems doing everything in Marvel Super Hero Island in a couple of hours...depending on the lines of course. Spiderman, Dr. Doom's Fearfall and the Hulk are all great fun! The Storm Force Excelatron is like a tea cup ride on steriods...it makes me sick so I don't ride. The characters come out for a meet and greet and will sign autographs and take pictures with guests. I think you'll find the interaction is much better than at Disney and the lines aren't as long...except for Spiderman.

It also depends on how tall your son is.

Spiderman is a 40 inch ride, The Teacup like ride 48", Dr Doom 52, The Hulk 54. I have thrill seeking little kids so I could tell you the height requirement to every ride in Orlando : )

The atmosphere is great and the characters very patient and personable but I don't know how much riding a 5 year old could do in the Marvel section.

Thank you!! I'm not sure how much he'll be able to do, either. He's so excited to meet the characters.

Thank you again for all your help!!

My son is 6 and could only ride Spiderman and The X-men (teacups) ride. He really loved Spiderman. We rode that over and over while my older son and husband rode hulk and dr doom.

everyone loves a parade........
the fantastic four will ride in with alarms blaring at set times in the day.

you can do photo shoots with your favorite marvel people.

spidey will spend time in the shop on the corner throughout different time periods in the day.

be sure to hit this entertainment in marvel land.

Also depending on how busy it is, you can see Spider man, Rogue, Storm, Cyclops and Captain America (you WILL see them). We've seen on busy days, Dr. Doom and Green Goblin...on REAL busy days Doc Ock, and HULK.

We were there during the fall years ago (the day before the evacuation for Hurricane Floyd - '99 maybe??). And the park was empty. Two teenage girls from Germany were walking in Marvel Island in front of us and they walked right by Spidey perched up on a fire hydrant. They thought he was statue. Once he jumped off and followed them - they turned around, screamed, starting running. Worth the price of admission right there! :rotfl2:

:rotfl: brilliant!

I loved meeting spiderman, we went last feb and he was quite chatty - he even made fun of what I was wearing :goodvibes. Then again most of the chacters we met were really good at the whole interactive thing, well worth going in my opinion.

The highlights IMO are Spiderman (the ride). Its a world class ride that until the new Forbidden Journey, many considered the best theme park ride in the world. I can ride this ride over and over again. The que is also very cool and its fun to even stand in line on this ride.

For Marvel fans, see if you can get the schedules of when the real spidey and the villians and stuff are out and about in the area, they will sometimes chase each other and stuff, plus sign autographs etc.

Other highlights for a MFan is the comic book store, and just taking in all the scenery kind of like you've gone into a comic book.

The Hulk is a great coaster. It has a great beginning where you are shot out like a cannon, that is not like most any other coaster. I don't particularly like big drop rides, so I don't think I've ever even ridden DD, but if you're into that kind of thing, its a good drop ride from what I can tell.
