Marthon Monday free admission and medal vote

I don't know if people have seen this yet so I figured I'd post it here. Apparently if you wear your finishers medal form the full the day after the marathon in Jan you get free admission to the park.

They also have a thing to vote on next year's medal design, so let your voice be heard.

I've put in my vote for medal #1; I'd love to hear what others think about the promotion and the medal choice.

Perhaps they are seeing a significant drop in registration and are trying to entice more folks to sign-up (and spend more time & money in the parks).

I think it's a great idea! (And I'm sure all the Half runners will be ticked.) It really does help offset some of the expense of the race, which was starting to get out of hand.

I voted for #1 too. It has color, and yet doesn't look like last year's medal.

I was just coming here to see if the free Monday info and medal voting was posted yet.

I like 2 and 3 best but voted for 3 since it is color.

I originally planned on flying down on Thurs and back on Monday for the marathon weekend so now I might either stay the extra day or do Fri through Tues.

I am getting together with the people I am traveling with at the end of June and will figure it all out then.

#1 and #3 are the color considerations..#3 still gets my vote, even though I agree with Brian's comment!

I couldn't decide which one to vote for, but I ended up picking #2. My first thought was #1, but as I kept staring at them, something about #2 converted me.

You can vote as many times as you want, says the fine print!

I voted for the second one. The first one looks like the 15th medal and the third one looks like the last couple years with just color. So in other words I'd like a different look in the bling.

Chris your reading my mind! I haven't voted just yet but I'm learning towards #2 although colored in medals are super cool which makes it a hard decision which is why I will vote tonight. I'll give it some serious thought while running my miles tonight

I actually had just talked to DW about skipping 2011 and coming back in 2012.

I voted for #2 - I like the different shape. I have an AP so the free day doesn't do anything for me... maybe they should do like they did for the what will you celebrate and give gift cards to AP holder

I love the color on #1 & #3 but I think #2 has a unique look to it. So my vote goes to #2 but I would be happy with any of them. I have an AP too so the free day doesn't do much and since it will be my first half - who knows if I'll even be up for walking around the parks. I like the idea of a gift card too!

Love the idea, but NO DESIRE to do 26.2 anytime soon Did my first half at the Princess, at age 35 when I am 40 that will be my goal --- but for now keep the extra day pass as I want to stand up pain free after doing 13.1 !

Do you mean 20th in 2013?

Now, darn it! I wasn't planning on returning to WDW marathon weekend until 2012 - Donald's 15th anniversary. Hmmmmmm.

Speaking of the Donald, I'm assuming Disney will do something special for the 15th anniversary although they didn't for the 10th anniversary in 2007. That's probably before they knew people would go crazy for a special medal.

I like #1 because I love the classic, basic Mickey ears on a medal. #3 is too much of a modern looking Mickey for me, and #2 doesn't look like Mickey ears at all, so for me personally it's out. But I like the old medal (last years) far, far better than any of these!
