Marriott's Horizons?

We're still trying to decide which Marriott site to go with next Spring. I have a few questions about Horizons:

1. How crowded is the Pirate-themed pool area usually?

2. Does the master suite have a whirlpool tub?

3. What is the drive to the Disney parks like?

4. Which facilities are actually open? I'm mostly interested in the Kid's areas and the fitness center?

5. Is there any other information you consider important?

6. Would you recommend one of the other properties over this one?

Thanks!

Beth

I have not stayed there - but hope to one day

kids love this resort.

the master suite does not seem to have whirlpool tub. but there are whirlpool tubs in the pool area

the latest thing I read says that the recreation center is not yet open.

be careful with your friends - one of the reviews stated that while his child was going down the slide another child was climbing up the slide and they crashed - both were hurt. this would not happen at a wdw resort because of the life guards. they didn't say why the life guards allows this or even if there was life guards - I though all slides in Fl had to have a life guard????

We stayed at Horizons in April of 2002. My family loved this place. The master suite doesn't have a whirlpool tub.
I didn't feel like the pool was mobbed, sometimes more people than other times but never real crowded. I don't recall there being a lifeguard there, although I was at the pool with my younger kids anyway keeping an eye on them. As far as the slide thing goes, that is a problem everywhere pools, playgrounds etc... My kids have been taught they go up and down the right way, but most parents don't seem to feel that way.
There was a water playground open when we were there that was lots of fun. Next to that was a small playground. There was a game room with air hockey and video games etc... There was also an exercise room with pretty decent equipment.
Over all our experience there was very positive and we are looking forward to going back in the future.

Thanks for the information!

My parents are giving us a week of their time. Grande Vista is their home resort. We went there with them last time and loved it. We just thought we'd try something a bit different.

I am still going back and forth between the Marriott properties. The kids are pushing for Horizons, but I know that they will be happy wherever we decide.
