We are staying there for 4 nights in January and then moving to the Polynesian for 3 nights before heading home...I think that it's really hard to really get a feel for a hotel from Marriot's websites. Can someone that has stayed there give me a better idea of twhat it's like? I checked them out on Trip Advisor, looks pretty good. We've never stayed off property before, but I do think the extra room, and the washer and dryer will be nice.
We will be receiving a $100 gift card from Marriott that I was told by the Marriott rep can be used in The Marketplace or for Disney Tickets that are sold there at the resort. I"m thinking of buying all but 1 of our tickets from Undercover Tourist and using the $100 gift card for the last ticket. Or is the Martketplace really that great of a place that we might want to use the gift card there?

This ISN'T a hotel, it's a timeshare resort. So you'll be staying in a 1,345 square foot two-bedroom villa with a full kitchen, large living room and two bathrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed, en-suite bathroom with shower, a fairly large jacuzzi tub, closet and a television. The living room features a queen size sofabed, a couple of matching chairs, large screen tv with a dvd player and a dining room type table/chairs. The second bedroom has a queen sized bed and a queen sofabed (pretty much fills the space in the room when the sofabed is pulled out), closet, and is next to the second bathroom. The kitchen has a full sized refrigerator, stove, microwave oven, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, etc. There are a washer and dryer in the small laundry room in the unit. There's also a screened-in lanai with a round table and chairs - the lanai will either overlook the lake or the golf course.

The resort itself is beautiful. There are two large pool areas (sauna at one) and a smaller area pool area (hot tubs at all three pool areas), a bar, a grill (order and pick up there or they will deliver), the Marketplace store (I think you'd be hard-pressed to spend $100 there), novelty boat rentals, bike and surrey rentals, shuffleboard, basketball, tennis, mini-golf (for a charge), lot's of planned activities for children.

Go to https://www.my-vacationclub.com/common/respages/pdf/resorts/cy/cy_sitemap.pdf to see the resort layout map and to the resort's home page at http://www.marriottvacationclub.com/vacation-resorts/marriott-cypress-harbour/overview.shtml.

You may not want to lose all that space when you move to Poly.:)

Enjoy!

We have stayed many times. You will enjoy the accommodations. When you move to the Poly, it will be a hard adjustment - going from a large 2 bedroom, 2 bath space to one room.

Their time share presentation is very low pressure. My best advice is to keep the chatter to a minimum and ask very few questions - or you time will go from 90 mins to over 2 hours. If you are interested in buying the time share, then please allow as much time as possible.

Have fun.

Stayed there last summer and we loved it!
Agree with previous poster about lack of room at the Poly in comparison.
We moved from there to the Hard Rock Hotel and my kids hated it!!
It is very nice and quiet.
Housekeeping was fantastic!
You do not have to attend a time-share presentation. Either politely decline or do not answer the phone. At check-in they will tell you to go to the "welcome" desk for your free gift-this is a way to schedule you for a presentation. I just never went and got mine and they only called the room once after that.
Definately worth it!!

Thank you to everybody for all the info! It's so big and spread out! Wow!
We will have to attend a time share presentation. Last January we bought a "Marriott Preview Package" for Hilton Head, SC for this summer because it was so much cheaper than paying to rack or even a discounted rate to stay at Surf Watch in Hilton Head. Then changed our vacation plans and decided to go back to the Virgin Islands instead. So since we had this package that was already paid for and was going to expire in a year and could be used in Orlando we decided we might as well go ahead and use it. But part of the deal is you have to attend a time share sales pitch, of course.
We are looking forward to going to the Poly though, that's our favorite Disney hotel and we haven't stayed there since 2006. And atleast we'll be checking in with no dirty laundry :goodvibes

Ed J,
Thanks for the pics...its a really pretty place. Can't wait to go!
I will check out that thread, it's nice to get a feel for a place before you go. After we stayed in a DVC villa last January, we were disappointed to figure out that DVC is not for us :-( but maybe Marriott vacation club is, seems like they have a ton of locations and the villas are huge so maybe we'll pay a bit of attention during the time share presentation.

Just a word of advice if you're inclined to buy...

Don't buy from the developer. There's a whole secondary market for timeshare re-sales. While Marriott is like Disney in that they both include right of first refusal clauses in their sales contracts, lots of Marriott re-sales appear to pass the ROFR process and buyers can save thousands of dollars. So my suggestion is to listen carefully to the presentation but resist the urge to buy. You may want to check out the Timeshare Users' Group at www.tug2.net to learn more about timesharing and buying timeshares.

definitely only buy from a resalers - not the developer.

loved the marriotts - but really hate those speed breakers and this place has several of them.

it is very pretty and well cared for - surprised that DVC was not for you.

DVC has resalers too and you can get a great bargin on SSR or OKW.
