Marriott to buy out Starwood Hotels

Was just looking over some recent news and see this. Starwood Hotels and Resorts agreed to Marriott International buy out.

Never stayed at the Swan or Dolphin but I have a Marriott vacation club card as I travel a bit for work so this maybe a little win for me....

Curious how quickly we might be able to use Marriot points at Swan & Dolphin.

I could've swore this happened months ago. I remember reporting on it.

It may have first been reported as working on it, but a Chinese company came in with a better deal before Marriott/Starwood's deal was agreed to. Marriott upped their bid in response.

We tend to stay at Marriott's when we travel, and have the rewards, so this could be good for us too.

Yes this deal was set last fall but then a Chinese company came in with an all cash offer. The news today is great as we are Platinum Marriott members and that is our preferred hotel chain!

May be some time to close the deal but hope it can be done by end of year.
