Hi,

I Pricelined this hotel for New Years week - about $450 for the week, (my children are marching with their high school in a parade at WDW on the 29th!), and was wondering if anyone could tell me a few things about this hotel:

Is there a breakfast? And what are the prices like?

Is there any way to tell if there is a convention there? Is there some kind of website that lists conventions in town in Orlando?

If you have stayed there, what are your suggestions for getting to and from the parks? The shuttle is $11 per person, which is quite high, when you start adding it up.

What is within walking distance from the hotel?

Thannks so much for any information you can give me!

KC

Unfortunately, your transportation choices to WDW are either pay the shuttle fee or pay the cost of a rental car and the nightly parking charge which is fairly steep. The MWOC is a huge self-contained complex. Nothing is in easy walking distance but you can find most of what you need right in the complex. Breakfast is available in several onsite restaurants but it is not free. If you call the front desk, they can tell you what conventions are booked for your week. I wouldn't think that it is a big convention week because of the holiday. But this is a big, busy hotel even without convention overload. Have a great trip, although the MOWC can get quite pricey with the extra charges this is a very nice hotel with a great pool area and you have a terrific base rate from Priceline.

THis is a beautiful hotel. We just got back after a week stay during easter time. Its the largest marriott in the world & the pool is the largest in orlando. The grounds are beautiful. In fact we'll be returning there after our stay at the GF in july, thats how much we loved it. As for transportation to the parks, there is a shuttle, we didn't go to the parks we just hung out at the beautiful pools. The front desk told me that you just have to tell them around 90 min. in advance when you want to go to the parks & they will have the shuttle for you. As for breakfast, it is included for 2 adults in the room. Its a wonderful buffet, which beats out alot of the disney buffets. They had eveything from 3 diff. types of sausage, to any type of omelets you want, pancakes, waffles, bacon, bagels, donuts, crousants, etc. It was just great. The price for the other people in your room is 15.99 for adults and 7.99 for children Try and get a pool view. The view is georgous. I just can't describe how beautiful the pools are. THere something like 5 diff. pool sections. There's also a smoking section and non-smoking pool section. Also a seperate kiddie pool area. The shops are small, but they carry designer stuff(coach bags) The food court is nice to,everything from individual pizzas to burgers, fries etc. They hve a waiter coming around the pool asking for orders for drinks and things like that. There are many places to sit and enjoy the areas outside as well as eat. We normlly stay at the CR concierge and now the GF concierge, but we loved the marriott world center, that even though they don't hve concierge there we will be splitting our trip between GF and marriott.(can you tell how much we loved the place). I know you will enjoy the place, there's nothing not to like. The rooms are spacious, with a balcony(if you choose poolside) enough room for 2-4 people.
Have a wonderful time.
(p.s- I think its something like a 7.00 diff. to include the free breakfast buffet)Don't forget ask for a poolview .

Breakfast is NOT automatically included. Marriott has a two for breakfast deal which does include breakfast but you don't get that with the Priceline bid.

There is a "food court" type area by the pool that has breakfast food and of course several resturants.

I would add that a full svc breakfast in the 'main' sitdown restaurant runs about $10-12 per adult, or about the industry avg for a upper business class convention hotel. You really cant walk anywhere off property, it's a hoof just to get out to Rt. 536 and
there's nothing around there once you do. As other posters have said, it truely is fully self-contained. I filled up 2-1/2 days there on a solo trip, never left the property, and never was bored.

We got MOWC from priceline a few years ago and loved the hotel. We did rent a car as the shuttle was expensive and inconvient. We again got MOWC for our first nights stay from priceline last year before going onsite. You really can't go wrong here!

...anyone tell me where this resort is located?? I might be very interested in staying here, too.....:D

It is in a great location -- right between I-4 and 536 (2 miles from WDW and 10 miles from USO/IOA). We just returned yesterday from Royal Palms which are villas located on the grounds of MOWC. We also LOVED it there -- we were able to enjoy the grounds of MOWC but also able to "get away" when it got very busy mid-week and retreat to our villa (which had a separate pool). As for MOWC, we spoke with a concierge and he tells us that Saturday eve (which is when we arrived) through Tues eve are "dead" (and it was, which was nice!) and then on Wed morn the conventions kick in and the place was packed! As for breakfast, you could also eat on the cheap by grabbing a Starbucks and a Krispy Kreme from the lobby shop. The shuttle (Mears) to WDW is $11 per person RT and from the airport it's $28 per person RT so we ended up renting a car for $138 for 7 nights. Staying in the villas incurred no extra parking charge. There is now a FREE shuttle to USO/IOA. It picks up out front of MOWC twice in the morning and once in the evening (for CityWalk) and then returns at 6:10, 8:05, 10, 12, and 2am. It was free (we took it twice to avoid the $8 parking fee) but it was a LONG ride -- over one hour each time because they stop at every other hotel on the route. The large main pool is very cool, with waterfalls and a 2 story water slide. Solaris (the buffet restaurant) is moderately priced as is Champions (sports bar). For our "last supper" we ate at Tuscany's which is a very nice Italian restaurant located off the main lobby -- it was fairly expensive ($50 for 2 adults w/appetizer and water to drink) but very much worth it -- and the wait staff was wonderful. Also, I didn't ask the prices, but at the travel desk in the lobby they advertise special convention prices for attraction tickets -- might be worth it to check that out. There is a Winn Dixie very close if you wanted to pick up some moderately priced munchies for the room. I hope this info helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions. Have a GREAT time! :p

Thank, everyone!

I would love to know from people who have stayed at the MOWC what sort of room you stayed in, what floor you were on, and what you could see from your windows?

I am getting really excited about this trip!

KC

Last stay, I was in sort of a northwest 'wing' of the hotel. I had a quiet pool very close to my room, it was quite a hoof to the main common indoor areas (ckeck in, restaurants, etc) but the feature pool was a short stroll. Great view of epcot fireworks from my balcony! Can't remember what floor though.

Hi,

Well, here we are, almost to Christmas, and the Disney trip is coming up fast! I was hoping to hear from anyone who has stayed at this hotel recently, and if anyone has any tips, that would be great?

Are the fridges in the rooms? And coffeemakers?

I understand parking is $8 per day. Do they just put that on your bill, or do you pay for each in and out?

Any driving tips to the parks? We are bringing our own car, and hopefully going early and staying late in each park.

And any tips on New Year's Eve at Epcot would be great, too!

Thanks in advance!

KC

Hi,

This is one of the best hotels we have stayed at. No there are no fridges in the room and yes there is a coffee maker in the room. Request a pool view room and you will be able to see the downtown Disney fireworks right from your room. Their Breakfast buffett was okay nothing major but their room service was wonderful.

The pools are "wow" that is all I can say. So humungous with several hot tubs around and also an indoor pool.

The only downside is that not a lot of things around it so it a car will be like a life saver to go places. When you come out of the hotel take a left and you will be in Disneyworld. There is a parking garage for your car and yes they do charge it on your bill. There is a shuttle that take you back and forth from the garage.

If you are celebrating anything be sure to tell them so they can maybe upgrade your room. You will love the elevators. They are so cool. There also is a Starbucks in the hotel.

Have fun.
