Marriott is buying Sheraton Corp...

And people are reporting some canceled reservations on thepointsguy.com. This was reported earlier this week...I got a call from the St Regis letting me know the rate I booked with miles was unavailable for my future travel dates. Yikes! If you book the Sheraton with points I would verify all is well.

This is a huge deal..and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'm not a fan of one company owning so many properties as I worked for Marriott previously.
I know many swear by the Marriott brand but time will tell how things turn out.

Marriott will own almost all of the hotel's surrounding DLR!

Actually according to this list on the Disney site, there are lots of hotels around DLR that are not Marriott or SPG properties. https://disneyland.disney.go.com/hotels/good-neighbor/

There are 41 hotels on that list (if I counted correctly) and most of them are associated with other chains or are independent. I believe only 8 of them are currently Marriott or SPG properties.

Marriott is building lots of new properties, I did not mean to imply they owned them all, just many more than they used to.
My apologies!

A-hah! This interests me greatly as I - not too long ago - had conversed with one or two other posters who'd - by-the-by - made some reference to things corporately Sheraton in an initial question I'd raised about keyless entry at Sheraton Vistana Villas. Without looking back for specific quotes from that brief thread, I won't here add any detail for which I'm totally ill-equipped to further comment. I do know that I just racked up many SPG points on a recent split-stay, and am now wondering if those SPG points might be honored and transferred over to Marriott Rewards...If not, I - apparently - need to get online and book another Sheraton vacation, soon!

I be it'll be mid July at the earliest and I hope they do a conversion not 1:1. Starwood points dont take as many points like Marriott. Marriott stays take more points so 1:1 would not be fair.
