My mom has a timeshare with interval. We are thinking of trading it in summer 2009 for the Marriott Horizons. We may do Universale, Sea World, and some Disney but mostly hanging by the resort and having fun with the kids.

Is this a nice place to go and relax? Has anyone stayed here?

We toured the place and are staying there next Feb. Looks nice.

How old are your kids? We stayed at Horizon's last summer and it was really nice. My kids were 4 & 2 at the time. The pool areas are great for the young ones, zero depth, slides, pirate ship with slides & shooters. They also have a putt-putt course on site. We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo which was very clean, new, & beautiful. I don't think you will be dissapointed here.

How did you find transportation to the parks? We were thinking of going to Sea World and Universal.

We always rent a car in Orlando. I'm not a big fan of the bus systems even when staying on-site at Disney. Also, unless you are planning on doing most of your cooking while there, you will need to rent a car. I don't remember any restaurants on-site. They do have a good bar/grill set-up by the pool. There is also another Marriot time share literally right across the street that had some restaurants.

Across the street is the Marriott Cypress Harbor. A great place but not restaurants there, just a walk-up grill and pizza hut. You would have to go over to Grande Vista for a restaurant.

SeaWorld is literally across the street - it's a 3 minute drive if you catch a red light. Disney is about 10-15 minutes depending on what park your going to, Horizons has very convenient access to I-4. Not sure about Universal, we didn't go there.
Horizons is definately geared towards families with small children (under 11). They have amazing pools and great childrens activities such as baking, bingo and ice cream socials - they also have golf, basketball and shuffleboard.
If you have young children I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Stayed there last October and liked it. Seems very popular, as they are adding more units. We had a nice 2 BR/2BA; one king, two queens (nice) and a fold-out sofa in the living room. Decent kitchen, free internet, just nice, comfortable, clean. Very nice pools, fun for kids, lots of resort activities too. Good location, near SW and close to outlet shopping and not far from WDW. Agree that you'll probably want a car. FWIW.
