Hi- OK I have researched both Horizons and Cypress Harbour thinking I would try to rent one of these for our Jan. trip this year and then just yesterday received a call with an offer for 4 nights at $199 for a 2 bdroom villa as long as we do the timeshare tour. I took it since we wanted to try it out anyway. I really wanted Horizons because my kids are 3+6 and I have read so many postings of how awesome the pirate theme is.....but of course they do not have the exact dates I wanted at Horizons but DO at Cypress Harbour. Can anyone talk me into doing Cypress Harbour instead? I liked that Horizons was smaller and closer to walk to the pool from any of the villas...it looked like CH might be pretty spread out? Anyone feel that I would be just as happy at CH by any chance?? Help!!

Cypress Harbour is a beautiful resort. I considered both CH and Horizons for one of our weeks next winter and decided that we'd go with Cypress Harbour again. CH interiors are are more upscale than those at Horizons, we like having the jacuzzi in the room (Horizons doesn't have them) and the resort has more and broader recreational/activities choices. With that said, I think that the second bedroom at Horizons may be a little bigger than the one at CH (at CH when the sofabed is in use there isn't much floor space left) and it looks like the pirate theming of the main pool area is outstanding. I wouldn't let the larger size of CH be considered a detriment, it's actually nice to be a little bit away from all the activity. And with either resort you can call in advance to request an area of the resort, or a view (they don't always grant your request but they do make an effort).

These two resorts are my two favorites in Orlando when we're not staying on our DVC points. Cypress Harbour is bigger and more spread out and has lots of activities for older kids. Horizons has the themed zero entry pools with slides and is great for little ones. I like the pastel buildings/Key West theme of both resorts. They are neck and neck on Trip Advisor. Horizons is No. 9 and Cypress Harbour is rated No. 10. :)

If you're going in January, it will probably be too cold to swim. I think Cypress Harbour would be great for a January trip since you'll probably spend more time indoors and the rooms are bigger at Cypress Harbour.

Even though it will be January I know we will still want to spend a decent amount of time at the pools (we are from Maine so do not get cold too easily!) but I cannot tell if the Cypress Harbour pools have any extra kid-like areas from any of the pictures. Also, is there miniature golf at CH too? Also, it looks like some of the buildings could be quite a distance from the main pool and clubhouse, can you walk to them or with 2 little ones would we have to drive? I so want to be talked into CH because we could get the dates that work best for us but my gut is saying that Horizons is the better choice? AAGGHH! I think we would be happy with the inside accomodations either way but I want my husband to love the whole thing so that he has more of an open mind when we go to the timeshare tour! By the way, from what I have read recently on here ...Is it wrong to buy one of these timeshare deals from Marriott directly? I think I am hearing that the re-sale market is the smarter way to go?

We're big Cypress Harbor fans. We've stayed there three times and toured Horizons twice. You will be fine at CH. There are many things for your little ones to do. There is an activity center with lots going on, even for kids that are your age. there is a small miniture golf course and a small water park next to the activity center. There are three pools. The large main pool also has a a small kids pool next to it. We've had units right next to the pool so request one of those. Even the builds father away aren't that far. I got my flights for February 2008 and i will try to get us back to Cypress Harbor for a 4th time. Let me know if you have any other questions.
