We are staying at Marriott Grande Vista in August. Need help. What is the best way to get to the parks? Is there a shortcut to get there? Also are there any big grocery stores nearby.

getting on I4 (about a block away) is probably the fastest.

however I preferred IDS - they road in front of mGV - you turn left - when it deadend turn right - go thru the light - and this roads become world center pkwy (536) -

It's pretty easy to get around the area. A few routes:

From Grande Vista property go to International Drive, turn right and get into the left lane. Turn left onto Central Florida Parkway at first intersection, go past SeaWorld to I-4 and just take the exit that is posted for the park(s) that you're going to.

From Grande Vista property go to International Drive, turn left (this is the way that Pat J suggested) and continue about 4 miles to the third traffic light. Take the right turn lane onto World Center Drive and go straight for a couple of miles onto Disney property, then just follow the theme park signs.

If you're heading to Downtown Disney follow either the I-4 route to exit 68 (turn right onto SR 535 and get over into a left turn lane for the turn onto Hotel Plaza Boulevard - DTD is straight ahead) or turn left onto I-Drive from the resort go to the second traffic light and turn right onto Vineland Avenue (part of Vineland runs along side of I-4) by the Walgreen's store and Publix supermarket. Follow Vineland to its end and turn right onto SR 535, go under I-4 and take the left onto Hotel Plaza Boulevard.

Is is hard to get to 536 exiting all the parks to get back to marriott grande vista?
How do you get there from the airport?

Pretty easy from the parks to SR 536. From AK or MK go to World Drive and follow signage toward Epcot resort area or Downtown Disney. That'll get you onto Buena Vista Drive. It's less than 2 miles to Epcot Center Drive/SR 536, an exit on the right.

From the airport to Grande Vista?

Take the north exit from the airport to SR 528(the Beachline) West toward Disney/Orlando. It's about 9 miles or so to Exit 1, International Drive. Take that exit and get over to the left-most left turn lane. Go about 2 miles south on International Drive, and turn left onto the access road to Grande Vista.

You can also get there by taking the airport's south exit and picking up SR 417 west toward Disney. You'd go 10 or 11 miles to exit 6 (International Drive) and take the right turn to go onto I-Drive headed north. It's maybe four miles to the access road to Grande Vista on the right.

Both 528 and 417 are toll roads, I think that it's $1.75 for 528 and $2.25 for 417.

Is it the same distance taking 417 or 528 from the airport? Which is the shortest? Also, from the parks to Marriott - you said take world drive. Are there signs to get to world drive? What signs do you follow out of the parks? Are you saying follow epcot signs exiting Mk or Ak? How about Hollowood Studios to get back to 536?

Taking 528 is closer, and cheaper, to get to Grande Vista. I'd estimate that the mileage from the parking garage - assuming that that's where you'll be picking up a rental car - is about 13 - 15 miles using 528 and 17 - 20 miles using 417. (variation is mileage depends on which side of the terminal - A or B - that you pick up your car and which side depends on which side your airline uses)

World Drive is the main North-South road at Disney World. You take World Drive to get to the parking lot used for the Magic Kingdom and, going the other way, you'd take World Drive to Osceola Parkway to get to the Animal Kingdom park.

Going to the parks, once you turn from 536 onto Buena Vista Drive just follow the signs to the theme park that you're heading to. There are a lot of signs and they're very clear. I think that the best way to get back to Grande Vista from MK or AK is to follow the signs to Downtown Disney but the Epcot area resort signs (remember that it's the resort area signs not the signs for the Epcot theme park) will take you in the same direction (you pass the roads to those resort hotels on Buena Vista Drive when you go from World Drive to Downtown Disney and the entrance to 536 is on the right before you get to DTD).

How about Hollowood Studios to get back to 536?

Getting to Hollywood Studios or Epcot is pretty easy from SR 536. For Epcot just stay on 536 (which becomes Epcot Center Drive on Disney property) and that'll take you right to the parking lot. For Hollywood Studios, go from 536 to Buena Vista Drive (again there will be signs for the theme parks, etc.). The Hollywood Studios parking lot access is on the left shortly after the traffic light at the Victory Way (also on the left) intersection. So getting back to 536 is a right onto Buena Vista Drive and then a right onto 536 (signs for the airport, I-4, SR 536 and, I think, SR 417 just before the short right turn lane begins.

On all of this back and forth travel I'd suggest that getting from Grande Vista to the theme parks, and vis versa, via 536 is really easy and you'll be pros after one trip. Once you're on 536 just look for the excellent Disney signage after the I-4 interchange and you'll be fine.

Have fun.

How do you get from the parks back to Marriott by using 4? What exit would you take off of I-4 to Marriott?

You'd go onto I-4 East and take exit 71 - it's marked as the SeaWorld exit. Take the right at the end of the ramp onto Central Florida Parkway and continue about a mile to the intersection with International Drive - get over into the right turn lane and turn right onto International Drive, going south. Continue on I-Drive for about 3/4 of a mile, you'll see a large building with a Marriott Vacation Club sign on it on the left (the top four stories are glass and it's pretty distinctive so you won't miss it). This Marriott corporate building shares an entrance with Grande Vista, so turn left and onto the Marriott property at the break in the median and continue down the road to Grande Vista.
