Hi all. Can someone who has stayed at both the Marriott Grande Vista and Cypress Pointe Resort (not Grandvillas) please compare the two for us. We've stayed at Cypress Pointe but are now considering Grande Vista. What we would really like to know is size-wise, how does the 2-bedroom Marriott compare to the Cypress Pointe 3-bedroom, which pools are more fun for an 8, 10 and two 15-yr.olds and are all 2-bedrooms at Grande Vista lock-outs? Also, how close is Grande Vista to downtown disney? Thanks so much. I 'thought' we had decided to stay at Cypress Pointe again but the family may want to try somewhere new.

I can only answer one part of your question. Not all units at MGV are lock outs. They have some dedicated 2BR units and some that lock out in to a 1BR and an efficiency.

Well, Grande Vista is probably two to three miles from Downtown Disney. Of course Cypress Pointe is a lot closer.

It's been a while since we've stayed at Cypress Pointe (but will be there again this June). We've stayed at Grande Vista three times and it's sister Marriott a couple of times in the last few years and I think that the Marriotts are superior resorts. With that said CP is a nice resort but doesn't have the resort amenities and activities that the much larger Grande Vista has. The 3 bedroom units at CP will be much larger than two bedrooms at GV essentially adding an extra master bedroom sized space. Cypress Pointe is a really nice, small resort with a pool area located in both phases and has undergone renovation and upgrading that continues this year. Grande Vista is at least three times the size of CP with two major pool areas and two smaller, more standard pool located around the resort. The rooms have recently been upgraded and several new buildings were added in the last few years.
I think that both of these resorts would be good choices and they're both resorts that we return to. If you're planning to spend some resort time during your vacation, I think that you would find that there's a lot more to do at the Marriott resort than at Cypress Pointe. I think it would be an easy decision if you had the choice of three bedroom villas at either resort as the Marriotts are topnotch timeshare resorts and I take that one every time.

I hope that some of this helps.

Thank you so much for the info! You answered my husband's number one question as to which resort would be better for downtime. Although the villa is overall smaller at the Grande Vista the second bedroom has two full beds so I'm really leaning towards the Marriott. Right now I can get a 2 bedroom, do they ever upgrade to a 3 bedroom at check-in? Thanks again!

I think an upgrade would be rare. Possible maybe if you were booking through Marriott on a per night rate and had gold or platinum Marriott Reward status.

I agree with this.

Most of the villas are exchanged through the Interval International timeshare exchange system. If you're exchanging you will not have the opportunity to upgrade. If you're renting from an owner at GV you'll also be limited to the size unit that they own.
