Marriott Courtyard

Has anyone recently stayed here? DS, who is five, prefers that we stay in a Marriott Courtyard whenever we travel. (That's where we stay when we visit Grandma and Grandpa) I went ahead and indulged him for this trip and made a reservation.

We don't care about going to the beach, we won't have time for that. Just wondering if anyone has any comments about the place?

Thanks

There's a review on www.dcltribute.com about the courtyard. I think I read the other day someone saying it is nice and like other courtyards. We are staying there next year for our cruise. Do a search on the boards for courtyard.

Dave's site is great! That's how we found out about the hotel initially. I had done a search and read a few posts. And I know, after many visits in many cities, that the chain is a nice one. I guess what I was wondering, but failed to post, was if there were any problems post-hurricane season?

Frankly, I am just so looking forward to our upcoming trip that I am on the boards everyday looking for the tiniest new information that I can find! What color is the lobby? Are the port parking lot spaces striped diagonally? Nothing is too trivial!

Thanks

Hi! we were there for the 10/2 magic cruise. The hotel is beautiful, actually one of the better Courtyards we have ever stayed at (and I have stayed at alot).

They did not have any damage that I could see, and they are only a short distance further than most of the other hotels I see mentioned.

I recommend it highly, but of course I'm a big fan of Marriott!

Have fun!

I stayed at this Courtyard in May (2004) and we liked it alot, no complaints. It was not the very very nicest Courtyard I've been at but I feel good recommending it. We had a decent view of the beach from our balcony and had the thrill of watching the Magic sail by on the way into port (we're early risers)! You said you don't have time for the beach, but if you find a couple hours, the beach is right there and very nice. The pool was nice too, not huge, but nice. Onsite food was good and the staff was very helpful and friendly. They have coffee, tea etc available in the lobby which is always a nice touch. I spoke with them last week to make reservations for January (2005) and they indicated all was well post hurricane. They will also allow you to leave your car in their parking lot during your cruise at no charge. If I remember correctly, the parking spots at the Courtyard were straight, not diagonal!! I love an obsessive overplanner, makes me feel normal!

Thank you for the recommendations. When DS was almost 4, we stayed at a Courtyard and the front desk employees spent so much time talking to him and really make a significant impression. I had taken our daughter's stroller to another part of the lobby, came back to my husband but didn't see DS anywhere. He had been curious about the motion detectors in our room and the fact that they didn't seem to work. DH told him to ask the employees at the desk. The lady then took him back to the manager's office and they talked with him about the motion detectors and hotel security in general. He has been a Marriott fan ever since! He has a small but important collection of Marriott ball point pens and room key cards.

dwkwootton - I'd love to make time for the beach, but we will likely spend our day at the space center. Maybe we can fit in an evening beach stroll. And, I prefer the straight lines in the parking lot, so that is also good news.

Thanks
