Marriott has a lowest rate guarantee (they will beat the best price by 25%)and I recently took advantage of that to save some big money. Here is what I did:

I compared rates on Marriott's website and Expedia. For example, Marriott's website has Anaheim Marriott Suites king suite for $139 but Expedia has the same suite for $111. So I booked the room on Marriott's website and then called their 800 number to submit a "claim" (that's what they call it) to tell them that Expedia has the same room for $111. When all was said and done, I got the room for $83.25 a night ($111 - 25%)! :woohoo:

I also did this for Courtyard Anaheim and got a room there for $63 a night.

I keep checking Expedia to see if I can get a good deal on Residence Inn but nothing so far.

Hope this helps some people!

I did the same thing for our trip in October. I got the Fairfield Anaheim for $75.00 but I can't decide if I want to stay there or at the Paradise Pier for $159.00. I'm just not sure if PPH is worth twice the price:)

If you have little kids, it probably is worth the price. It's just me and DH and we want really comfy beds and ART. :rotfl:

Will they do the "Fairfield Inn by Marriott" too?

Yes. Any Marriott owned property (Fairfield, Residence Inn, Courtyard, etc.) that has a better price on another site (Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity). I was leery of doing it at first but I made my reservation through Marriott's website with the thought that if they didn't honor the better price, I would just cancel my reservation. But they honored the lower price and beat it by 25%. It worked for my friend too.

I just checked rates for the week we are going to DL (11/30 - 12/5) and found that Marriott's website is either the exact same price as Expedia or $1 or $2 lower. Maybe they caught on! If you really want to do this, I would check it every day because Expedia is always changing their prices.

I did this too. We are staying at the Residence Inn and they beat the published price by 25 percent. I am spending 100 a night. :rotfl:

Oh this is good information.

We are flying out to LA and now with the Ike hitting Texas DH might not be flying with me. We are going on a cruise out of Long Beach but will be there 3 days early and had planned to do a few tours in the LA area but if he does not go I am looking at the Courtyard by Marriott to meet up with some friends who are coming in on Thursday as well but going to Disney.
