Marriott has a lowest rate guarantee (they will beat the best price by 25%)and I recently took advantage of that to save some big money. Here is what I did:
I compared rates on Marriott's website and Expedia. For example, Marriott's website has Anaheim Marriott Suites king suite for $139 but Expedia has the same suite for $111. So I booked the room on Marriott's website and then called their 800 number to submit a "claim" (that's what they call it) to tell them that Expedia has the same room for $111. When all was said and done, I got the room for $83.25 a night ($111 - 25%)!
I also did this for Courtyard Anaheim and got a room there for $63 a night.
I keep checking Expedia to see if I can get a good deal on Residence Inn but nothing so far.
Hope this helps some people!
