Ok so we are going next spring to see my son March in Disney world. With high prices and no onsite perks that we’d use, we are looking to stay offsite. We have marriot points to use, so we’d probably use them. Looking for close to the parks, decent size room and a nice pool. We’d also rent a car, so no need for a shuttle. Any thoughts? Resorts to stay away from?

If you have lots of Marriott points, look at the Swan and Dolphin. Big pool, lots of dining choices, quick drive to the parks, with a bus available if he’s marching at MK and you don’t want to mess with parking at the TTC and then taking ferry or monorail across the lagoon. Then there’s also the Marriott World Center, directly across I-4 from WDW. In the Bonnet Creek area, there’s an almost brand new JW Marriott you can investigate as well.

Thanks, we don’t have quite enough points for swan or dolphin. I’ll look at the other two.

There are also 4 Marriott's at Flamingo Crossing - Townplace Suites, Springhill Suites, Fairfield, and Residence Inn. That's a great location if you need properties at the lower point values.

I was looking at those too. Or at the Sheraton vistan. Is one area better then the other?

We've stayed at both. I have stayed at Springhill Suites & TownePlace at Flamingo Crossing (prefer Springhill but will go with whatever is cheaper). There are 2 new Marriott hotels there since our last trip. Sheraton Vistana Resort is very nice, you get the kitchen (which you also get with TownPlace). All free parking. The trip down Western Way from Flamingo Crossing was very convenient, not sure with more resorts there if traffic has increased. Vistana Resorts was very centrally located. (There are 2 different Sheraton Vistana places - I think Resort is closer than Villages to the parks)

Tons of Marriotts in the area. Can check out the hotels in Marriott Village. There is also their vacation club properties…Grande Vista, Harbour Lake, Cypress Harbour, etc.. They also have the Sheraton Vistana Resort as well as the Sheraton Vistana Villages Resort.

Thanks, that’s a lot of great information

How many nights at Marriott and how many points are you willing to spend per night? Since Marriott has over 100 hotels 'close' to Disney, with some much more convenient than others, it would be easier to recommend for you.

Do you have any Marriott free night certificates to use?

Also, remember that 4 nights (only on points) costs the same as 5 nights on points with the 5th night free option.

Will your nights be weekday or weekend? Weekends sometimes cost more, other times, less.

Do you have Gold or Platinum status for extra perks?

Will you have a car?

60,000 points or less per night. We are gold status and yes we will rent a car. Just 4 nights, and due to school, we can’t extend an extra night,

Since you get the 5th night free with points bookings, if it will help one thing we have done in the past is to book an extra night on at the end of the trip. Then you don't have to get out of the hotel at any fixed checkout time. The only cost to do so is the extra day of "resort fees", so don't do it if you aren't going to use that extra time at all.

the Swan/Dolphin is usually 50-60k per night and you can't beat that convenience

If you join the private Marriott Facebook page there is a lot of great info regarding Florida WDW Marriot Hotels. MOst members prefer the Sheraton Villages.
