I've got the marriot at dtd booked for december 6th to december 14th. I have 5 nights at the $20.03 rate but 3 nights at $99 (the friday saturday rate). Having just read the last post I've found i can book comfort inn lake buena vista for $29.95 for 8 nights including continental breakfast. I'm torn. I wanted the 2003 rate just because it WAS but the 3nights $99 spoils it a bit.
if i decide to go for the comfort inn, will i be able to transfer those nights i've already paid (ie the 2003 nights) to someone, for eg on these boards? I know it says not transferrable but i think i read a way around it by adding someone to the rerservation.
looking forward to your opinions.

The Courtyard is a LOT nicer than the Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista, so I'd bite the bullet and pay $99 for the weekends.

I just went to the www.courtyard.com site, and you can get a AAA rate for Dec. 6 and 7 at the Courtyard DTD for $69 per night. The lowest AAA rate on the 13th was $89. Since you're returning home on the 14th, you could move to the Comfort Inn LBV for your last night to save money. The CILBV is ok for a few nights, but for 8 nights - I personally wouldn't do it.

UPDATE: I had my weekend days wrong, and the AAA rate for the 3 weekend days is $89 rather than $69. :(

Why not check into the CI LBV for the last 3 nights (the ones you have the CM for $99).

I think she is paying the $99 rate for the first night and the last 2 nights. I was mistaken in my earlier post - thinking the 6th and 7th were weekend nights (the 7th is Sunday).

okay - what does a LOT nicer mean?
So long as it's clean. We don't intend to spend alot of time there at all. We'll have a car so location isn't really an issue. The children will use the pool a bit, but not overly much. We'll have a fridge in the room and breakfast is included, which saves us $30 odd a day - which is all we'll actually be paying!
I was looking forward to the courtyard, but what is it that makes it better than the comfort inn in terms of the difference it's going to make to me?

If you just want a place to lay your heads, then the CILBV will probably be fine. And the continental breakfast is a consideration. I stayed at the CILBV in 1999 - before the rooms had microwave/refrigerators - and it was a dreary place. Things have probably improved since then. The only time I stayed at the Courtyard was when it was a Howard Johnson's in the early 80's - but I've read good reviews about that hotel.

It if were my $29 and I didn't want to switch hotels - I'd bid a maximum of $29/night for a 2.5 or 3-star hotel in the WDW area: www.biddingfortravel.com
