Married at First Sight

I haven't watched last night's episode yet, but I just finished watching the "Casting Call" episode. Am I the only one who's not totally freaked out by people using this method to find potential love? They're working with people who are experienced professionals, being interviewed, etc. Seems to me that this is really no worse than going on the Bachelor/ette. It seems to me that people who "marry at first sight" might have just as good a chance at a long-term relationship. Or have I watched too much reality TV?

I'm totally with you. Provided that both partners are going into this with the intention of staying together and making it work- I think they really have a chance at a lasting relationship. Attraction is important, love is important, but I think commitment is really what holds a marriage together (especially since the other two can ebb and flow over the course of a lifetime) Also, if a team of experts that you trusted told you that this person was a near perfect match for you from a sociological and psychological level, I think you would operate off the assumption that this relationship would last and be more apt to work through issues. Provided that you both had similar values, personalities, and commitment levels, I can't see why you couldn't make a relationship work with just about anybody if you really wanted to.

On a regular dating show, I doubt Jamie gives Doug a chance based off of physical attraction alone. But, I have a feeling that she'll fall for him. And I have a sneaking suspicion that they are still together.

The previews for next week look bad, like lots of fighting, but it could be editing....

I think the said "on the upcoming season," so I think it more than next wk. I think they're showing all the drama moments with editing to draw you into next wk

I want to just fast forward to next week, and then the week after...

I think Doug and Jamie will make it. He's being so patient with her, it's really adorable. I think that she'll come around to that. Especially because it seems like he has so many things that she wants.

My prediction is that Monet and Vaughn don't make it, but I think the other couples do.

Going on a honeymoon has got to be even more awkward than just the wedding, so I'm really looking forward to how that turns out!

I think that Doug & Jamie make it, I think they're my fav couple to watch. I honestly thought all of them would make it, but the creative editing at the end of last nights episode for the season to come had me questioning Vaughn & Monet. Again it could just be editing to fool us. They said on 1st episode that Vaughn & Monet had the highest % of compatibility.

The honeymoon would be totally awkward for sure! I say Jason & Courtney just go for it from the beginning though, no long waits to be together. They were the only couple to kiss on lips at alter & weirdly enough it seemed normal & not awkward.

I'm not freaked out at all either! I think if you're a really open person & open to a real marriage this is a cool an idea.

ICK.

Honestly, after watching it online last night, I really don't think Doug and Jamie are a good match. Doug is way too nice for her.

Dawn

I KNEW she looked familiar!! I remember her now. She did the embarrassing lap dance thing with Ben. Ugh.

I thought the show was kind of interesting. I like the African American couple (can't remember their names right now). They both seemed like really nice, down to earth people. I hope their marriage works out.

I think from the background they gave on Jamie being raised by a mom who was a drug user, she may have a guard up around her & a person like Doug takes those walls down. I think she must be nice because they had said she took legal custody of her younger siblings, a mean person wouldn't do that. I think she has been looking for love & that's how she ended up on the bachelor which is a show that rarely results in love, lol!

Anyone know how you can watch the Danish version of this show? I goggled it & checked Netflix. Maybe someone on here's a much better googler :rotfl2:
than me!

I'm so obsessed with this show. I've watched "Bachelor Pad" and "The Bachelor" that Jamie was on and that is what initially made me want to watch.

I hope at least one of these couples make it work. (If not more)

I caught 2 episodes this evening on lifetime. I hooked, I don't have FYI channel so I just have to try and catch it. But I will be looking for it.

It was on tonight at 9p on FyI/former Bio channel. It's on again at 1a & last wks show is on right before at 12a.

I loved it tonight! Jamie's finally relaxing!

Rats! DH decided to watch Deadliest Catch. Maybe I can catch it on Xfinity later this week.

I watched it online. I really like the show. I like that Jamie is coming around. I think out of all the couples they could really make it. They've taken their time to get to know one another.

Jamie & Doug are my favs too, I'm glad they've taken their time, it seems to make their bond stronger. Courtney & Jason seem happy too. Vaughn & Monet seem to have some issues to work out, I think their so used to living independent lives that they're having a hard time coming together.

Part of me wishes I just taped them all & then watch as I'm dying to watch the next episode. The dvr has ruined tv for me :rotfl:.

I was able to watch the first two episodes replayed on A&E this weekend and I'm hooked. I checked for this weekend and don't see any replays listed. I was hoping A&E would air them all.

I notice it was on Lifetime the other day but it was the same two episodes that I have seen. I checked Lifetime and didn't see any other replays.

I'm still keeping my eye out but if anyone sees when and where this show is replayed please post.

I am wondering......

How many of you would have been able (or willing) to do this?

NO WAY I could have. It took me a long time to really get to know a person to the point of even being willing to date him. I can't imagine marrying without knowing them first.

I have been happily married with my DH for almost 13yrs & I was lucky we met young when I was still in college. I really thought about this idea when the show started & I honestly think if I got to certain point or a certain age & hadn't found exactly what I was looking/hoping for I think I would consider this. They have 4 professionals who really did the back ground work to genuinely set people up together that are compatible. I think that great possibility of love is worth the risk. Of course you never really know unless it's really happening to you.

I don't know if I would have considered it at the time. Looking back, I hated my DH for about a year after I met him-I decided at our first meeting that he was arrogant and not my type. After 32 years, I just don't know what would have happened if we'd had to get married at first sight. I don't think I would have given him a chance, and that would have been a mistake.
